Kennebec Company makes custom cabinets, and its website says it was founded in 1974 as a team of cabinetmakers, designers and engineers. A local news site has described it as a Bath, Maine cabinetry builder. A 2026 customer said the company installed its Simply Kennebec semi-custom cabinets in a new-construction home, with Dylan designing the set. That 2026 customer said the line is "not inexpensive but it is not stratospheric either," and that the cabinets were completed on schedule and finished after the stone countertops were placed. In a 2025 review, a customer said Kennebec made the kitchen cabinets for a new apartment in a 60 year old NYC co-op building, with Dylan working around odd gas and water placements. A 2024 customer said Dylan made two visits to the home for planning and measuring, and that a complicated part of the cabinetry squeezed into an understair area was exact at installation. A 2023 customer described a third Kennebec kitchen, after earlier ones in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and said the minor issues they found were dealt with expeditiously. That 2023 customer wrote, "You will pay top dollar for a Kennebec kitchen, and it will be worth it." In a 2018 review, a customer described a full custom kitchen in Portland, Maine, laid out with Jeff Peavey, whom the review calls the former owner, that went from one working space to four. In a 2015 review, a customer said Kennebec designed, built and installed oak kitchen, pantry and fireplace nook cabinets and bathroom vanities in a new Arts and Crafts home, and later returned to add drawer dividers and roll outs.

The Kennebec Company recently installed a series of its Simply Kennebec semi-custom cabinets in our new-construction home. Even the semi-custom line is not inexpensive but it is not stratospheric either. Dylan designed a great set of cabinets, offering sensible options and describing tradeoffs. The wood selections and grain matching are wonderful. Customers are welcome at the workshop facility to see their project in progress, and the cabinetmakers are knowledgeable and forthcoming about their processes and the build characteristics of your choices. The finish came out beautiful - a natural cherry that they were oh so careful to keep covered from the bright lights in their workshop to avoid shadowing ... The systems were completed on schedule, held until the project was ready to receive them, delivered, installed and finally finished after the stone countertops were placed. It was a great experiance from start to finish.
Can't say enough wonderful things about Kennebec and the cabinets they made for my new apartment. Kennebec actually did my parents' custom cabinets over 25 years ago which still look wonderful, so they were the only choice when it came time to do my own kitchen. Dylan designed a masterfully thought-out kitchen and was able to roll with the punches, quirks and odd gas/water placements of a 60 year old NYC co-op building. He thought of so many design features and creative placements for the layout, including a china cabinet and pantry built-ins on existing beams... all the way down to a built-in spice rack for my beloved Lenox spice village. The whole team was great to work with and very responsive. I receive so many compliments on my kitchen and couldn't be happier with the work Kennebec did. I most highly recommend them for your project.
Ir was a pleasure to work with a company with such a stream lined and efficient process. We appreciated the very easy to understand quotes and invoicing. Dylan was very patient in working through our requests and made two visits to the home for planning and measuring. A complicated part of the cabinetry squeezed into an understair area was perfect and exact at installation. He added great value with his design ideas and now that the cabinets are in place, we see how many subtleties and details were included.
Our first Kennebec Company kitchen was in a Federal period house in Massachusetts, nearly 40 years ago. We were so pleased with it that we brought them back when we moved to a slightly older house in New Hampshire ten years later. In both cases, the cabinetry was designed to complement the look and feel of the 200 year old dwelling, and in both cases we were delighted with the outcome. Fast forward to the present. We are now in Maine, enjoying our third Kennebec kitchen. Over the time we have dealt with them, the people at Kennebec have all turned over, the manufacturing processes have changed, even ownership of the company has changed, yet Kennebec has managed to maintain the same high standards of quality and customer satisfaction that drew us to them in the first place. Dylan Estabrooks was our designer, and we found him to be a pleasure to deal with: creative, responsive, a good communicator and especially important, a good listener. Many of the things we like the most are a result of Dylan’s efforts. The cabinetry itself was built to the same high standards we have come to expect, and the minor issues we found were dealt with expeditiously and to our complete satisfaction. You will pay top dollar for a Kennebec kitchen, and it will be worth it.
