Kitchen & Bath Design Center is a family-run Agawam showroom that says it has served the area since 1990, operating under the corporate name Custom Marble Design, Inc. BBB's filing lists Donald and Richard Roy as owners, Theodora Roy as president and Jamie Roy as office manager. The business does custom cabinetry, natural and cultured stone countertops, and full kitchen and bath renovations with its own installers, and it picked up Best of Houzz honors in 2017, 2018 and 2019. The early written record, from 2017 through a 2020 review, is detailed and consistently positive: homeowners describe Don Roy designing full kitchen renovations — in one 2017 review, reworking a dated kitchen around a specific green-cabinet vision, taking down a wall and replacing electrical, plumbing and flooring — and sticking closely to the schedule and budget he set. Starting in 2022, the tone shifts. A February 2022 review describes a quartz countertop with blemishes that a replacement slab didn't fix; a March 2022 review describes a granite countertop that began flaking about three and a half years after installation, with a slow, unsatisfying response. A September 2023 review describes two bathroom remodels where the plumbing needed repeated return visits, including a leak into an untouched downstairs bathroom, and an owner who brushed off a complaint about a toilet. A January 2024 review describes poorly managed electrical and plumbing subcontractors and damage that was never properly fixed, and a February 2025 Houzz review describes a six-week bathroom project that stretched to five months after the wrong parts were ordered. A June 2026 review, the most recent in the record, describes a kitchen demolition and remodel handled with clear communication. Houzz's own 4.7★ average across 31 reviews sits well above Google's 3.5★ across 13 — most of the pointed complaints above were posted on Google rather than Houzz. Given how differently recent jobs have gone compared to the company's earlier years, ask for references from work completed in the last year or two, and get product-defect and subcontractor responsibilities spelled out in writing before signing.
Absolute professionals. The entire process from start to finish was efficient and comprehensive. The team at Kitchen and Bath Design were excellent in addressing every detail of our extensive demolition and kitchen remodel. Their communication was fantastic and their approach minimized stress throughout the project. We are looking to start on the bathrooms with them now.
I contract Kitchen & Bath Design in August 2024 it is not February 2025 and my bath is not finished. They ordered the wrong parts for the sink and shower. I have been waiting two weeks for them to arrive. My bathroom mostly finished at the beginning of January. It took five months for this six week project to be completed. The tile installer and carpenter were very good. The rest of the contractor were sloppy and took their time to get things done. I would never recommend anyone using them. My contact at the business seemed to be juggling three to four other jobs at the same time. I am not happy with this company.
Make sure you get change orders in writing! Construction sub was awesome, but electrical and plumbing subs were horrible and created more issues. Electrical sub never finished his job because he blamed everyone else. Plumbing sub was over the top bad. We were never made whole due to the issues being cost-prohibative to fix properly-would have meant pulling up counters and sink to replace A damaged cabinet. Company doesn’t know how to effectively manage subs…lots of down time. Would never recommend. Owners are bullies when it doesn’t go their way.
Would not recommend. Zero stars if I could. Two upstairs bathrooms redone and there wasn’t one thing the plumbers touched that didn’t have issues where they had to come back (multiple times) to fix. One of the upstairs bathrooms leaked into the downstairs bathroom and had to have ceiling replaced (downstairs bathroom was NOT one of the two being redone). When I told one of the owners that one of the toilets wasn’t flushing right, he asked if I was flushing it correctly (really?!?). I had Ideal Kitchens redo our kitchen and was beyond pleased with the experience. Would not recommend Kitchen & Bath Design Centers to anyone. Too much aggravation.
Buyer Beware: Our business with Kitchen & Bath Design turned out to be the worst experience we have ever had dealing with a home improvement company. We had a product failure on our granite countertops starting ~3 and a half years after installation. After the initial installation the Countertops appeared to have an odd bread crumbs flaking look to it, and we questioned it immediately. Rich came out and said it was fine. Rich and Donny were totally unprofessional although very quick to take our money, and when issues came to surface (literally), we got a complete run around for more than 2 months before they finally sent someone to fix (so we thought). This person came and asked why he was here, stayed 10 minutes providing conflicting information and said we needed to contact the office. We had at least 2-3 different discussions with both Rich and Donny, and each time they assured us it would be taken care of. We were sold a poor quality granite for countertops, and never advised of the known chararastics and consequently ~ 3 and a half years down the road after following Kitchen Design's explicit instructions for cleaning/sealing (along with the products they said to use), we had chipping, a fair amount of roughness and what appeared to look like bread crumbs (we since learned this is common for this granite and should have been advised prior to buying it). Rich and Donny were arrogant, belligerent, and would not stand behind the faulty product, and tried to continuously say it was our fault. No client should be treated in such a manner as we were. Instead of trying to be helpful, and work with us, their answer was that we put bleach or ammonia on the Granite (totally ridiculous and not true). Granite should last a lifetime, not 4 years. In our final conversation they informed us that they were not willing to do anything about the product failure.
