Lake Sunapee Plumbing & Heating is a Newport, NH company that's covered boilers, furnaces, geothermal and mini-split systems, and general plumbing in the Lake Sunapee, Lebanon and Claremont area since 1985, per the company's own account, with 24-hour emergency burner service among its offerings. The reviews here are thin and pull in two directions. On one side, Porch's own platform shows a 3.71-star average across 26 ratings for this business — a solidly positive figure. On the other, the one review text actually available, from 2016, is a serious accusation: the customer said the owner underbid the job to win it, then inflated the invoice, left work unfinished, and threatened to sue over the disputed charges. More recently, a Reddit commenter earlier this year described having to call the company back three times after a new fuel tank installation, saying the two younger techs who did the work didn't seem to take much care with it. On the licensing side, the company's New Hampshire gas fitter/HVAC license is verified active with the state, currently held by Jeremy Willey. BBB also lists a separate NH Fire Safety license number on file, though that one hasn't been independently checked against the state registry. There's also some inconsistency about who runs the business day to day: the company's own website names Jeremy Willey as owner, while BBB's profile and the office contact email point to Randy Willey. Given the gap between the strong platform average and the specific complaints described above, it's worth getting a detailed written estimate and asking directly about the recent installation issue before booking a job here.
“Lake Sunapee Plumbing and Heating was not the best experience for me. Seems like two younger guys that don't have much care for the work they do. Had to call them out for 3 visits when they put in a new fuel tank.”
BEWARE. Randy Wiley at Lake Sunapee Heating LLC is as deceptive, dishonest & unscrupulous as they come. He underbids on jobs to win them, overcharges on the invoice, leaves work incomplete, and won't hesitate to take YOU to court to fight for his nonsense inflated invoices. On our job, he did all of the above. First time I've ever had a contractor not finish the job and sue ME. I should have known, when I met him, we talked briefly but he mentioned suing people and how easy it is... 'Just pay the $95 fee', he told me. Wow, I should have run from this company. Note, the courthouse is 1 mile from his office. It may as well BE his office. When I attended, the judge knew him FROM SIGHT and I was one of THREE lawsuits he had filed for THAT DAY. He fills his days playing the courtroom like Vegas, betting $95 that defendants won't show & he'll be awarded judgements. Don't trust Randy Wiley or Lake Sunapee Heating LLC. He's happy to lie, leave the job unfinished, overcharge, and then sue you. An additional note - the lawsuit came immediately after I appealed to the BBB for resolution. He's so protective of his fabricated BBB A+ rating, he will sue you to protect it (BBB doesn't get involved when the case goes to court, and since he sues everybody who complains, no complaints make it through to the BBB). He is incapable of communicating anything to his workers, so if he quotes the job, his workers will have no idea what their task is when they arrive - beware. Beware, beware, beware. There's a lot of heating and cooling companies out there, PLEASE consider choosing someone else. I had to pick a one-star rating because I can't pick Zero star ratings. Or negative stars.
