New Boston Bakery's owner, Jim Souza, told the Herald News in August 2023 that he credited LAL Construction with trying to minimize the impact the closures had on businesses, and that he understood everyone's frustration. That is the shape of this company's work: excavation, mostly on public projects. The Fall River firm has been at it a long time. Its Better Business Bureau profile dates the business to April 1978 and names Marcello Louro as president. In May 2013 the Taunton Gazette reported it as the lowest bidder on a job at $1,145,398; in August 2016 the Herald News described a $20,001 bid to demolish some of the structures at the former Silvia School on Hartwell Street; and in January 2026 news reports named it, an excavating firm based in Fall River, as the contractor on another project. Its Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office disadvantaged business enterprise certification is active on the state registry. On Google the company holds 4.4 stars from 10 ratings, and a June 2026 reviewer wrote that the work they see from the crews is clean and professional. This is a site-work and demolition contractor, not a remodeler. If you need excavation or a teardown at a house, ask what size residential jobs they take, and settle the scope, the permits and the price in writing before anyone breaks ground.
