Lapierre Fence

If I could give them zero stars I would. Absolutely DO NOT BUY from this company. They stole our money and did not do the work that was contracted. I hate doing this but I feel an obligation to warn other consumers of this company and their unprofessional and fraudulent tactics and behaviors. We hired Anthony Dayhoff of LaPierre Fence Co, Oxford, MA, for the fence installation of our private residence in Oct 2023. Everything seemed genuine and “right” on paper. And then we paid him our $3,000 deposit to secure our project and the dates of installation, and that’s when the trouble began. Tony gave us one excuse after another as to why he could not show up to fulfill work services or deliver the materials he supposedly purchased with our deposit. What originally was promised as a 2.5-3 day job max, quickly turned into 3 weeks of frustration. He never communicated with us first. We always had to call or text him to find out why he didn’t show up to work on a day he said he would be at the site. It got to the point where we honestly did not trust anything he said for the amount of times he lied to us about showing up or finishing the project he kept telling us. He said he had our fence materials, but never delivered them in the three weeks “he had them for us” and in the third week of working with him, he started showing up at very odd times for a daytime labor job - coming to our home at 6pm or 7pm to work for an hour or two in the dark, and still always later than when he would tell us he was planning to arrive (show up at 7pm after telling us he’d be there at 4pm). The biggest red flag and final straw was on Thursday 11/16 when Tony showed up to our house in the evening hours (again, had said he was 30min and showed up hours later), and was arrested on our property for possession and use of cocaine wherein he had passed out and was found by the cops unconscious in his car at the time from drug use, in our driveway. The next day we immediately contacted him to cancel our contract and asked for $2000 of the $3000 deposit in refund as he did perform some services in dismantling the existing fence we had. (He did also begin installing the new fence, however, from the new fence company we hired shortly after we canceled with Tony/LaPierre Fence Co, they reported to us his work was so shoddy and unstable that they had to redo everything that he had installed). We were willing to pay him for the labor hours of dismantling our fence and he agreed to the $2000 refund. He did tell us once again that he had the materials, but when I told him in lieu of the refund that he could absolutely drop off the materials with the receipt of purchase attached, he once again refused and said he would give us the $2000 in cash or funds instead of the materials. He then asked for one week from the date of cancellation to return the materials and provide us with the refund. It’s now been three weeks, and we have not received the refund and once again are having to reach out to him to find out how he is delivering our funds. He has several times already given us excuses and/or lied, telling us he was coming over with the money and not showing up. I wish I were making this up. Just goes to show never trust online reviews only for a business. This business looks on paper like it’s legit but obviously there is something going on under the management of Anthony Dayhoff. We are now taking legal action against the company for violation of consumer rights and we warn anyone who considers LaPierre Fence Co to not choose this company.

We had our fence installed Summer 2022 and quality over a year later is definitely still superb. Tony was great to work with- super friendly and flexible. He gave very competitive pricing and timeline. He also gave good suggestions for what we needed. We ended up getting part privacy fence against our neighbors’ houses and black chain link in the back to keep the view of the woods. We weren’t sure how the fence would look, but it turned out beautiful. Our yard is a hill and the fence is lined well with the ground. We and our dog love the fence. Highly recommend this business!
