When a microburst split two trees in one recent customer's yard, Alex came that afternoon and confirmed the trees were compromised. He recommended removing three trees in all, one of them 60 feet tall. That customer wrote that Alex and Jessica, a husband and wife team, began about 8:30 and the job was completed by the time the customer returned at 1:30. In 2024 that customer wrote that the trees gave healthy apples and pears in the first year of treatment, that Al had tended them for four years, and that Al also cut down 18 pine trees and ground them down. A 2024 customer who had a tree taken down said LaPila had also treated their beech trees for beech leaf disease. A 2023 customer said Al and Jessica pruned trees including a large cherry next to the house and removed a large shrub, and that Al identified the underlying issue with a diseased ash tree. A 2022 customer hired them to remove six trees and prune four others, and said Alex and Jess gave upfront pricing after an on-site visit and cleaned up the branches and sawdust afterward. The microburst customer, writing in 2024 about an earlier job on hickory trees, said it may be two or three months before they can get to a job, with weather the biggest factor in delays.
LaPila Arborists just left my home after pruning my 40+ year old oak tree. They were prompt, thorough, and cleaned up my yard after completing an excellent job. Highly recommend.
Update - July 8, 2026: Following the July 4th microburst - two trees split in the yard. We also lost power for 20/hours in New Britain. By Monday, July 6th, I knew I had to have Alex look at the damage. He came that afternoon and confirmed that the trees were compromised. To me, a compromised tree is a dangerous tree. Alex said we could schedule for Wed, July 8th and he recommended the removal of 3-trees in total one was 60' tall. Alex and Jessica began working about 8:30 and the job was completed when I returned at 1:30. I was thoroughly impressed. This husband and wife team, exemplify: intelligence, courtesy, professionalism and most of all trustworthiness. I don't believe I can emphasize enough the care, partnership and effort that they provide. I don't even have a great yard or lawn and the house is very dated, but they care. That's what matters. Fantastic work. Thank you. Hire them, you will not be disappointed. September, 2024: Absolutely, hire this dynamic duo (Al and Jessica) if you need tree removal or care. This review speaks primarily to full, partial and pruning of three trees in our yard. To watch this professional husband and wife team choreograph their work was like watching professional ice skaters. Though the analogy may seem odd, Al and Jessica are a team using precision, communication and safety to complete their work. I was thoroughly impressed. Pros: safety first and foremost, assurance, intelligence, pleasant, trustworthy, cleanliness, hard-working. Cons: the wait time. It may be two or three months before they can get to your job (they'll provide an estimate) but ultimately, weather becomes the biggest factor in delays. Definitely worth the wait. Personally, because I was so taken by the great job they did (08/14/24) on our hickory trees — removing an 85 foot (+/-) tree which was too close to the house and had dead branches; taking an equally tall (and dying) tree and cutting it to half-size allowing us to keep the trunk for woodpeckers and squirrels and pruning a large branch that was hanging over the road — I would never consider calling anyone else for future service for the remainder of our trees. There are plenty of places out there that will cut trees but not necessarily correctly or with true care. Al and Jessica bring experience, knowledge, care and peace of mind to their customers. As I said, a dynamic duo.
LaPila Arborists rescued our 15 year old, 40 foot tall Arborvitaes by diagnosing and treating fletcher scale infestation. They also pruned our Chinese maple & Dogwood trees and identified/removed invasive species growing on our property. They are knowledgeable extremely professional.
We just had a tree taken down by LaPila Arborists. We love the work they do. They are neat, friendly, experienced, extremely professional and knowledgeable AND affordable. This is not the first time we have used them. They also have treated our Beech trees for Beech Leaf Disease. We plan on continuing to use them for all our tree needs in the future. We strongly recommend them.
Al, the arborist, is easy to work with, honest, and respectful. Cleaned up nicely afterwards and did a fine job overall. We're already discussing other work.
