Lucia Lighting & Design has run a fixture-packed showroom at 311 Western Ave in Lynn since 2005, when Lucy Dearborn and business partner David Solimine, Jr. set out to build New England a client-centric spot to shop for lighting — the company says it serves homeowners, builders, and designers from Cape Ann down to Cape Cod and into Boston. One thing worth knowing before you call: despite showing up here under "electrical," this isn't a wiring crew. It designs, sources, and sells fixtures — chandeliers, pendants, architectural and decorative lines — and leaves your own electrician or contractor to handle the actual install. The numbers lean solidly positive — 3.9 stars across 39 Google ratings, a perfect 5.0 across 7 Houzz reviews, and an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau, though the company isn't BBB-accredited. A June 2026 order for a bedroom ceiling fan is a fair example of the routine experience: staff helped pick the right fixture and had it shipped to Western Mass in four days, with the buyer calling it "a fantastic fan and a great experience." But the text behind those stars runs less uniform than the averages suggest — across the 11 reviews on record since 2021, spanning six sources, overall sentiment sits close to neutral once a serious complaint about a mismeasured custom order and a combative resolution attempt is weighed in. Before ordering anything custom or big-ticket, it's worth asking how measurements get verified and who you'd escalate to if a made-to-order piece doesn't fit right — that's the recurring theme in the less flattering feedback. The showroom does carry real design-world affiliations, including the Lighting Showroom Association and American Lighting Association, plus Houzz-listed recognitions like Best of Boston Home and Best of Houzz 2014 — though these are self-reported and directory-listed rather than independently audited. For picking fixtures, getting a lighting plan drawn up, or stocking a renovation from a large in-person selection, this is a well-established, generally well-reviewed North Shore stop. Just line up your own electrician for the install, and get the specifics in writing before committing to anything custom-made.

I did not personally select this lighting company. The woman who purchased the lighting on my behalf did. One of the Chandeliers, was a custom piece that was measured incorrectly by the designer. Pat, the owner Lucia was extremely combative, and just plain rude from our first interaction on the phone. I understand when things are custom you cannot return. However, never once did I want my money back, I simply was asking for assistance in making this $10k custom chandelier work in a space that was measured incorrectly. Pat and Lucia Lighting offered none of that. It was an absolute nightmare to work with them and I wish the $40k I spent for 3 Chandeliers went to another business, one that understands the meaning of customer service.
