Maitland appears suited to homeowners seeking a broad renovation partner for carpentry, decks or additions who value frequent communication; confirm license, insurance, schedule and warranty details before signing.
Maitland builders did amazing work with our Deck reconstruction and the patio! They were very professional and completed the work on the time promised. We highly recommend them for your home improvement projects!
I recently purchased a home and completely renovated it. Maitland Builders handled several critical components of the project including a wall removal, installing a beam as the wall was load bearing, closing up a window and repairing the external siding as a result, venting the kitchen through the roof and other related finishing pieces. I found Maitland’s work thorough, high quality and reasonably priced. They were very collaborative in their approach and flexible in terms of adjusting to the ever changing schedule. I have now decided to finish the basement and will use Maitland as the GC on that project.
Maitland Builders replaced the front and side porches on my house. Excellent craftsmanship. The crew was personable and professional. They were hardworking people. They also power washed my house. I highly recommend them and would hire them again.
I'm really disappointed to have to change my review and can no longer recommend Maitland after a series of issues with a waterproofed shed and their not responding to our requests to fix it. Maitland did a series of jobs on our house in April 2025: electrical, plumbing, drywall, window and door replacement, painting, and building a deck with a waterproofed shed beneath it. Most of the work was fine, but the shed, which was almost half the total cost, has caused us nothing but problems I'd expect any contractor to avoid. There's no flashing behind the ledger board, so water drips into our basement through the shared wall. There's no flashing at the base of the shed or around the door, so water intrudes there too. There's no house wrap around the shed frame, and the PVC board and vinyl seams don't appear to have flashing tape either. One shed wall sits on top of a concrete knee wall and the top of that isn't flashed. Most seams were sealed with silicone instead of flashing, and most have failed within a year. The waterproofing system itself works when it rains (a pond liner draining into a gutter), but all of these other areas leak badly. I can't store anything in there. The shed also has an electrical circuit and I'm worried the water will become a serious safety issue. I contacted Maitland when I noticed these problems in November 2025. They came out, saw the issues, and when we tried to schedule the repair they stopped returning my calls. I reached out again in April 2026 when the snow melted and the leaks returned. They answered a few texts but would never commit to coming out, and stopped returning my calls after that. Every contractor I've had look at it has said the workmanship is too poor to repair. The only fix is to tear the whole thing out and rebuild it. I'm left completely out of options.
Dealing with Maitland Builders the past few months has been refreshing and rewarding. Our family had a vision for the transformation of our small home. It required a complex and exacting approach by our contractor. A tight budget also was a major concern of ours. We had been disappointed before with companies who promised great service, timely completion, and quality work in other projections. However, Daniel and Vinny from Maitland met or exceeded our expectations on all points. Junior, our lead carpenter, aimed to please in every aspect of his work. Our home has been transformed and we couldn’t be happier. We highly recommend Maitland Builders.
