Marty's Landscaping splits reviewers into two camps, and both leave detailed accounts. Run by owner Martin Peal out of South Chelmsford, the company holds an active Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license (#190629, issued February 2026, confirmed active as of July 2026 per BuildZoom) and does landscaping, tree removal and hardscaping — plus, per its BuildZoom listing, retaining walls, decks, fencing and other outdoor structures. The praise is specific and repeats: a customer of 'many years' across landscaping, tree removal and hardscaping projects, in a June 2026 review, credits the crew with fair prices that don't change and a habit of following up after the job; a 2024 review describes a river-rock and fence-line project where 'the crew all work together... in sync'; several reviewers say they've hired the company multiple times and would again, with the owner personally checking on crews mid-project. The complaints are just as specific, and there are several of them across the same years: a 2024 review reports mowing before 7 AM in violation of Chelmsford's noise ordinance; a 2023 review describes a crew that blew debris onto a car, followed by what the reviewer called an unprofessional callback from Marty himself; a 2023 review from a neighbor, not a customer, describes being yelled at after asking the crew to stop blowing leaves onto their property; and a 2025 review calls the company disrespectful of people and property. One 2025 review describes a Marty's vehicle cutting off an ambulance — but the location given, Franklin, Ohio, is far from this South Chelmsford, MA business, so it may describe a different, similarly-named company rather than this one. Given both patterns run in parallel for years rather than one replacing the other, it's worth asking directly about a recent, specific job before hiring, and confirming clean-up and communication expectations up front.
We have used Marty’s for many years for various landscaping, tree removal, and hardscaping projects. We have always had extremely positive experiences working with he and his team. They have always done fantastic work, and even follow up to ensure everything went well. They show up on time, have fair prices that don’t change once they are here, and do phenomenal work. I wish we could use them for every home project we have! In fact, we will be using them to do a bathroom renovation in the fall. So grateful we found a company like Marty’s to work with!
The funny part is, these guys usually do a great job with the actual landscaping. That said, why are they using a freaking leafblower to clear snow in my apartment complex at 5:30AM on New Year's Day!? True goofball behavior. Why they thought this was a good idea, I cannot possibly imagine- I thought it was some stupid kid making noise as a prank at first, until I saw them plowing as well and realized it was the landscapers with a leafblower. I'm not leaving 1 star because I'm that mad, I'm leaving 1 star because it was that stupid...
I have used these guys on multiple projects and they always do a great job. Workers are always friendly and work very hard. The owner marty swings by throughout each project to make sure the crews are doing a good job. Highly recommend these guys.
Don’t bother with these guys. All about money they have no respect for people or peoples property.
Did a great job was above my expectations, price was extremely reasonable
