Mass Landscaping is a small, family-run outfit that's covered ground on the South Shore for two decades, according to owner Evaldo D. Carvalho's own count — Better Business Bureau records list a March 2005 start as a sole proprietorship, and the company's own website says it's now in year 20. Its work spans the usual landscaping range: mowing and lawn care, patios and retaining walls, irrigation, bobcat grading, and commercial snow plowing in the winter months. The public review history here is thin — just three reviews between 2023 and 2025 across the platforms tracked — so any read has to be held loosely. In a 2024 review, one customer who'd used the company at four different family properties praised the patio and landscaping work and called the pricing reasonable. A 2023 review told a different story about a standing mowing arrangement: the crew did solid, quick work once on site, but showed up on their own schedule rather than a set day, sometimes a week late. A June 2025 review raised a sharper concern — a spring cleanup estimate that arrived with no real detail on the scope of work, leading to weeks of back-and-forth trying to pin down what was actually being paid for. Better Business Bureau gives the company an A+ letter grade, though it isn't a BBB-accredited business. Worth confirming directly before booking: get the scope of work spelled out in writing, and ask about a firm start date rather than an open-ended "on the way." Sources also don't agree on where the company is actually based — Better Business Bureau lists a Braintree address, while the company's own website describes itself as based in Hanover.
I scheduled the company for a spring cleanup. They came out and quickly gave me an estimate. The written estimate included no detail as to what was to be done so I spent the next couple weeks messaging with the office manager, trying to get the scope of work documented on the estimate. A few weeks later the work was done but the team damaged my drip irrigation and didn’t mow the backyard. They also didnt clean around my shed or backfill the wood chips they removed once they came back. They were here 4-5 times over a few months time to address the clean up and damages. I ended up just paying the invoice and moving on from them without the wood chips being spread around my back shed. They wanted an additional $800 to spread maybe 3 wheelbarrows full of cheap pine chips. Will not be using again.
Great company doing great job, and at reasonable prices, they do patios, landscaping contractors and snow plowing as well, I highly recommend them, he did work for my family at 4 different houses excellent job!
They are ok. They do a quick and great job whenever they come to mow, but they never come on time. Usually it'll be a week before I realize we were due for a mow, so we'll call them up and the lady will say "they are on their way" and they'll show up 30 minutes later, but I'm pretty sure they just forgot about us...
