BuildZoom shows a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration for the business, but that is BuildZoom's listing rather than a verification — and the page is internally muddled, printing a licence issue date of February 2026 while saying it checked the licence in January 2026. Ask for the registration number and check it yourself with the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. Note too that BuildZoom's score of 101 is calculated from permit history, not from anything a customer said. If you are planning a large structural job — an addition, a second storey, a gut remodel — Mercurio's permit history is real and relevant, and the one detailed account on file is about exactly that kind of work. What you will not get is a deep bench of recent customer accounts to read, so ask for references from jobs finished in the last year or two, and confirm the registration and insurance in writing before anything starts.
