MJT Home Improvement is a Marlborough, MA outfit that, for most of its written history, was a roofing-and-siding company homeowners were glad they found. Run by Marcos Terrenas — the company describes itself as family owned and operated — it built a 4.8-star average across 38 reviews each on Angi and HomeAdvisor, with 95% five-star ratings, largely on fast, well-organized jobs: full roof replacements finished in a single long day, siding jobs wrapped up in under three, crews that showed up on time and cleaned up after themselves. The specifics back that up. A 2019 review described the crew stepping in to finish and redo a botched multi-unit condo project after the owner fired a previous contractor, calling Marcos responsive and fair on price. A 2020 review credited the team with fixing a structural gap between an addition and the roof that a prior roofer and siding crew had both missed. Several reviews from 2018 through 2020 describe estimates arriving within a day or two and full roof tear-offs and reroofs finished before dark. What's changed is recent. Google, where the company holds only 3 stars from 6 ratings — a sharp contrast with its Angi and HomeAdvisor numbers — carries three detailed 2026 complaints: a March 2026 review (also posted on HomeAdvisor) describes a kitchen and bathroom remodel needing repeated rework, a claim that a fan had already been replaced when it hadn't, and a reimbursement check that bounced; another from March 2026 says a deposit was taken for a project that was never started, with the customer still being paid back slowly months later; a September 2026 review calls the company unresponsive and says the reviewer intends to file a licence complaint. Separately, an OSHA-violation tracking site reports the company was the subject of a formal federal safety inspection that produced four citations and $19,218 in proposed penalties, and a civil court filing lists the company and Terrenas as defendants in a case brought by a commercial lender, with no outcome on record. On the paperwork side, the company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and BBB lists it as an A+ accredited business with 15 years in business — though BuildZoom also shows a second, now-inactive HIC registration number on file for the company. Given the gap between the older, detailed praise and the recent, specific complaints, anyone calling now should ask pointed questions about current crew capacity, get everything in writing, and avoid paying a deposit before material is on site — and it's worth asking directly about the unresolved court filing and the fan/reimbursement dispute before signing anything.

If i can leave no stars I would. He does not reply and he is a complete scammer, He will give you the run around and say he would have family issues. Do not trust this guy, we will be going after his license if anyone wants to file please reach out.
Great design but the lack of quality control is a serious problem. Numerous reworks needed, lies told, caused a massive leak to my downstairs neighbor and lied to me about replacing a ceiling fan and then bounced the check to reimburse me. It won't let me post half a star.
Don't trust this guy! He took a deposit from me almost a year ago for a project that he never started. A few months ago I asked for my deposit back after I found out he lied to me about ordering material for my project and continues to lie to me while slowly paying me back. He shouldn't have a contractor's license!
It was actually a kitchen and bathroom remodel. Design was good but the quality control was very poor requiring multiple rework. Ended up having to call in properly qualified contractors for which Marcos did reimburse me for. The final straw was $940 I paid to replace a fan that he said was replaced in 2023, which it wasn't. He sent me the reimbursement which bounced and now radio silence.
Marcos was very fair in his quote to have the roof done. Even when they removed the old shingles and found that they needed to replace the plywood Marcos was fair in the increase cost. His people showed up at 7:30 AM and worked like busy bees though out the day taking only half hour for lunch. They worked like an oiled machine, each new what to do and they never stopped. I highly recommend this company for any work you need done! MJT Home Improvement goes the extra mile to make sure that the job is done right and they clean up after themselves as well.
