Modern Design & Build

Make no mistake, choosing the right contracting company for your construction or renovation project is a HUGE DEAL and should never be something done lightly. Pick the wrong one and regrets will most likely follow you forever. Pick the right one, and you’ll probably always feel good about the choice you made. That is why going into our total kitchen renovation, we conducted an exhaustive research process that identified no less than 8 different companies in our area that we considered hiring. After interviewing the majority of them, we decided to contract with Modern Design and Build of Holliston. Most companies will tell you what you want to hear. Not all deliver on the promises and the discussions that are made at the initial meeting. In the end, Modern Design and Build delivered. If you are in the market for the services of a construction or home renovation contractor, you should strongly consider Modern Design and Build to be on your short list of candidate companies. MD&B’s owner, Matt Avis is the face of the company. Upon meeting Matt, we were immediately impressed with his industry related knowledge and how he clearly articulated what his company could deliver to us with respect to our project and the vision of what we hoped to accomplish. Matt also wasn’t afraid to advise us throughout the project, of options that we may not have considered for our renovation, some of which we chose to incorporate and were pleased we did so. Another very important facet which impressed us about Matt was that when we asked a question about a particular renovation matter and he wasn’t completely sure of the answer, he admitted to us that was so, but he ALWAYS got us the answer to our questions. This was a critical indication to us that we were dealing with the right individual and the right company. Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the relentless pursuit of perfection that many of Matt’s workers demonstrated, especially his Master Painter Ray. The amount of effort and expertise that Ray put into his portion of our renovation project was unlike anything we ever expected. There’s only one 5 Star Rated Professional Painter in this area that we have met, and his name is Ray. He is uncommonly exceptional. If you are considering a remodeling or renovation project for your home or investment property, I would strongly encourage you to consider Matt and the good folks at Modern Design & Build.

Could not recommend Modern Design and Build enough! Matt worked with us to finish our basement. We came in with a vision and Matt helped us tailor it to our needs and budget. The whole team was very thorough, taking it upon themselves to improve things we did not even notice! Chris, the PM went above and beyond for us as well. They were prompt, reliable, and honest, which has not been my experience with other contractors. Will certainly be working with them again for future projects!

We had an outstanding experience from start to finish with our bathroom remodel. The entire team was professional, organized, and incredibly easy to work with. Communication was excellent throughout the project—we always knew what to expect, and everything stayed on schedule. The quality of the workmanship exceeded our expectations, and the attention to detail really shows in the finished space. Remodeling can often be stressful, but they made the entire process seamless and enjoyable. We couldn’t be happier with our new bathroom and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a contractor who is reliable, skilled, and truly cares about delivering exceptional results. Thank you for an amazing experience!

We worked with Modern Design & Build on our first floor renovation and we couldn't be happier! Matt and his team were by far the best we've worked with! Matt took the time to truly understand the vision of the design that we wanted. His honesty, communication, and utmost care for quality throughout the project surpassed all expectations. All of his subcontractors were wonderful, trustworthy, and just overall easy to work with. His project manager, Scott, also went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the finished product. We've already had Matt back to our house to quote additional jobs! Thank you, Matt and team!

We used Modern Design & Build to remodel our primary bath and a few smaller projects such as replacing the guest bath vanity countertop/sink/faucet and adding under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. Working with Matt and his team was probably the best experience we’ve had working with a contractor. His responsiveness and communication is impressive. The same can be said for his project manager, Scott. All vendors and subcontractors were also great to work with. You can tell they really enjoy working with Matt and Scott. Always a great sign! We will use them again the next time we have a project and have already recommended them to neighbors.
