Mother Construction Corp is a Beverly, Massachusetts design-build company founded and run by Lori Bovarnick, who describes it as a female-owned firm that folds design into construction at no extra cost and works across greater Boston and the North Shore. The Better Business Bureau records the corporation as started and incorporated on 6 November 2018 with three employees. The work is full-scope general contracting: kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, decks, roofing, windows, siding, masonry and restoration [E336248, E336306, E336261]. Thirteen permitted projects are on file, sampled in Manchester, Marblehead, Topsfield, Revere, Malden, Brookline, Maynard, Stow and Plymouth and dated 2021 and 2022 [E336262, E336264], alongside five project galleries on Houzz. The most important thing a homeowner needs to know is the licensing. The Massachusetts registry shows Home Improvement Contractor registration 200009, held by MOTHER CONSTRUCTION CORP. itself, in SUSPENDED status. That is a state-registry result about this exact company, not a directory guess. BuildZoom independently flags the business with an alert reading 'No active license on file' and gives it a score of 0, and it lists the same number 200009 as inactive and at one point cancelled. The BBB file, meanwhile, records a different number entirely, 148362, and the company's own Houzz text says only 'licensed and fully insured' with no number at all. Massachusetts homeowners lose access to the Guaranty Fund when a contractor's HIC registration is not in good standing, so this needs resolving before any deposit changes hands. Customer opinion is genuinely split rather than thin-and-glowing. Houzz shows 3.7 stars from three reviews. Two are positive: a customer in October 2022 described a finished basement and master bathroom they were happy with, and one in May 2022 praised weekly progress meetings on a kitchen renovation and named Lori directly. The third, from August 2022, is a detailed one-star account describing months of silence after a significant deposit, repeated changes of project manager, materials missing from site, misplaced permits and an appliance swapped without the customer's agreement. The BBB grades the business A+, and separately states it is not BBB accredited — two different facts [E336247, E336250]. The Houzz profile itself now carries a 'Business Profile Suspended' banner. If you are considering them, do one thing first: ask for the current Home Improvement Contractor registration number and check it yourself at the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, then ask directly about the 2022 complaint and how deposits, materials scheduling and project-manager continuity are handled now.

Mother construction finished my basement, and master bathroom. The end result was very nice, and we are happy with the way everything looks.

While others may have a good experience we were stuck with an incredibly incompetant team and were ignored for months after giving a significant deposit. We also continually got different team members suddenly because of high turnover rates within the company and had to re-explain our entire project to each new designer or project manager as there seems to be no internal communication. On top of this we had a hard time getting any answers from the mother construction employees without numerous calls and emails. The design team barely did anything I was never given a drawing or visual representation of how all the appliances fixtures etc would look together and wasn't even given real samples of anything to choose from. The multiple project managers we had delayed our project numerous times due to not having materials on-site for the contractors, ordering the wrong supplies, or misplacing permits for inspection. They even changed one of the appliances we chose to order without discussing with us. Throughout the project we did not have all the materials to complete the work and were constantly waiting on things to be delivered so the contractors could continue. This was incredibly dissappointing since the woman who sold us this job insisted demo wouldn't begin without having all supplies ready. Im sure there are some good people who work here but our expierence was horrible and I will not be taking a gamble with this company again. A huge waste of money and time just book directly through a contractor

I love Lori and team and I am so happy with my Kitchen Renovation. Mother Construction was very responsive and we had weekly progress meetings which was wonderful and kept us in tune with the project the entire time. Highly recommended!
