A November 2025 Google reviewer signed a contract with Mountain View Property Services to build a deck and paid a large deposit. Two months after the permit came through, they wrote, the only progress was demolition of the old deck, which took a few hours; the carpenter the owner said would start framing the next day never showed, and the owner stopped answering emails, calls and texts. That customer terminated the contract, filed a police report, and said they were working with the BBB, the state Attorney General's consumer protection office and small claims court to recover the deposit, and that the BBB told them it had tried several times to reach the owner without a response. The Underhill company describes itself as a full-service general contracting and property management business working across Vermont since 2019. Its Vermont residential contractor registration, 174.0000011, is active under the name Mountain View Property Services. An April 2024 Google reviewer had roofing and attic insulation done and said the work itself was done well, but not on time or according to the contract; that reviewer described subcontractors ranging from excellent to sloppy, promised arrival times that were not kept, accidental property damage the owner promised to fix but did not, and billing that was not transparent. A February 2025 reviewer said they emailed and called Micah and the office and never got a call back. A September 2024 Reddit commenter in r/burlington called the owner unskilled. On the other side, a February 2025 reviewer said Cook and Brad did a marvelous job, and a March 2024 reviewer credited Micah with days of phone calls sorting out an Airbnb reservation. On Google the company holds 2.9 stars from 11 ratings.
“Mountain View property services as well. Unskilled owner who thinks he can buy skill.”
Mountain View Property Services - What started off well, ended terribly. I signed a contract with them to build a deck. The owner was responsive, appeared qualified, and answered all my questions until after I gave him a large deposit. After he cashed my check, he literally fell off the radar and seemed disinterested. He made promises that he didn’t uphold, such as not dropping off material samples, not moving misplaced supplies, and not beginning framing or foundation work. He said that he could begin building within 2-3 weeks after my permit was approved, but 2 months later the only meaning progress he made was demolishing my old deck, which took only a few hours. He said his carpenter was going to begin framing the next day but never showed. I followed up with the owner multiple times, but he never responded with an explanation of what happened or what the plan was to get back on schedule. He stopped responding to all my inquiries – emails, phone calls, and text messages and so I finally concluded he had no intention of completing the build. I ended up terminating my contract, filing a police report, and I’m now working with the BBB, the State Attorney General (Consumer Protection), and small claims court to get my deposit refunded for services unrendered. I sent the owner a demand letter with all my requests, giving him 30 days to resolve. Again, he made promises of good faith and resolution, and some willingness to buy back materials including some form of a refund but never followed through with those promises. The BBB advised me this morning that they made several attempts to contact the owner of Mountain View Property Services but never received a response. I’m currently proceeding with criminal and civil complaints.
Bless his heart, he was mediocre at best.
Cook and Brad did a marvelous job
Never again signed a contract i emailed and called micah and the office never gotten a call back or email stay away
Work was not done in a timely manner or according to contract. In general, the work--roofing and attic insulation--were done well, but while some subcontractors were excellent, others were sloppy. Multiple promises regarding when workers would show up were made but not kept. Accidental damage done to the property was not fixed, though the owner made promises to do so. Billing was not transparent. Overall, I was satisfied with the ultimate quality of the work, but the company was not easy or pleasant to deal with.
