A 2025 customer said Rob and his crew built a new timber frame home for them in Waterbury Center, VT, taking an empty property to a finished home in about 11 months. That 2025 customer said Rob's team had come out within a few days to fix the few very minor issues that came up in the five years since, and that the house was included in the Summer 2025 issue of Stowe Magazine. A 2024 customer described a custom-built timber frame home and said Rob Shea (owner) guided them through the process step-by-step. On its website the company describes itself as a new home builder that also takes on kitchens, bathrooms and garages, naming Stowe, VT for its garage work. A 2026 customer said Rob, Karl, Nick, Hunter and their team/subs retrofit a bathroom into an old 1885 house where nothing is plumb or square. A 2023 customer said Rob's team installed new cabinets and an island, a tile backsplash and the finishing work in a kitchen remodel, and that the final cost on both of their projects came in at the estimate. That 2023 customer said the guys showed up exactly at 7am and that the lead carpenter, Karl, came back on several occasions to tie up loose ends. A 2021 customer said the company took down an old deck and built a new one, and called them a pleasure to have around for the week. A 2025 customer praised the attention to detail on deck work still underway. A 2024 customer said the work site was cleaned up every day. A recent customer says the team was a pleasure to work with from arrival on the job site until the last piece was cleaned up. A 2025 reviewer wrote that their companies, Vermont Frames and Foam Laminates, had been working with Rob Shea and RSC Building for over a decade. A 2024 Reddit commenter in r/vermont said RSC excelled in both capacities across multiple projects. Its BBB grade is A+, and it is BBB accredited. A 2021 customer said Rob Shea's team handled their bathroom project and that they would hire them again for future projects. Vermont lists its home improvement contractor registration, 174.0000995, as active, held by RSC Building.
“RSC excelled in both capacities as far as I’ve experienced across multiple projects.”
“I'll give a tepid response to RSC. He helped build my house this past year, and I was less than thrilled with several aspects of the project.”
Real Pros! From the moment they arrived on the job site, till the last piece was cleaned up the team was a pleasure to work with. If you want something done right, and on time RSC is top notch. I can't recommend them highly enough!
Rob, Karl, Nick, Hunter, and their whole team/subs did an amazing job. They adapted to surprises without a hitch, communicated efficiently and effectively, and the end product turned out fantastic. They retrofit a beautiful bathroom into an old 1885 house where nothing is plumb or square. I highly recommend them for any size project.
Rob and his crew built a new timber frame home for us in Waterbury Center, VT. We started the process in the Fall of 2019 and we moved into our new home in October 2020. You may wonder why it has taken us 5 years to write a review. Well, you really shouldn't have many problems in the first year or two, no matter who your builder may be. A truer test is how it stands up over time. If you have had few issues in the first 5 years, that seems to be a pretty good indication that the home is well-built and will serve you well for the long-term. Rob and his team were great to work with. You may notice that the time frame mentioned earlier was during the heart/start of COVID. Although challenges arose, Rob and the team did a GREAT job of taking an empty property and getting us into a stunning timber frame home in about 11 months. We couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the build. In the 5 years since we have lived in the home, we have had only a few very minor issues. For those, Rob's team has been out to fix those within a few days. Aside from being beautiful, the house has proven to be energy-efficient and comfortable. There are very few items we would have done differently, and those items reflect our design choices rather than build quality. The house has turned out so well that it was included in the Summer 2025 issue of Stowe Magazine. Bottom line, we are VERY happy with our experience with RSC and would choose to use them again should we want to build or if we need renovations in the future.
RSC is next level! The communication from the top down has been phenomenal. From Rob, to Karl, Travis, Sam, and Joe all I’ve seen is true professionals. The attention to detail on the work they have done so far on our deck is amazing. I can’t say enough good things about the people and this company. We still have more projects to be done by RSC and we look forward knowing we are getting the best quality. RSC is how businesses should be operated. If you are looking for true craftsman who care about the work they do then contact RSC. Good work isn’t cheap! Cheap work isn’t good!
My companies, Vermont Frames and Foam Laminates, have been working with Rob Shea and RSC Building for over a decade. In the time we have worked with hundreds of Builders and General Contractors on residential and commercial projects from Maine to Virginia. RSC Building stands in the top 1% of building partners we have worked with, not just for the quality of their work but for how they treat their clients, the care and concern they show, and the ownership they take for the results. I have repeatedly seen Rob and his team give unbiased advice to his clients, even when it resulted in less work for him and his team, because it was the right thing for the client and their project. They keep their clients informed and communicate well. Building a home is always a complex team effort and good communication between different teams is essential to completing a project on time and on budget. RSC Building excels at this. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering building a home in Vermont.
