A cinder-block basement wall had cracked and bowed inward at least 2 inches when a 2024 Google customer called in Solid Concrete and Excavating, a division of Multy Builders. That customer said SCE anchored rebar, installed forms and bracing, and poured a new concrete wall with two buttresses, using the existing wall as the outer form. The 2024 customer also said SCE jacked up the front of the house before the pour, which freed a front door that had bound shut, and found the price on the low end of what they expected. The company says on its website that it has served the Addison County and Central Vermont area since 1998, and its Houzz profile describes a construction and contracting business doing general contracting, custom new homes, renovations, additions and foundations. On Google it holds 4.6 stars from 7 ratings, and its BBB page is an A+. In a 2020 Houzz review, a customer said Bill and his crew repaired bad insulation around the foundation of the house and tried hard to save the shrubbery. A 2023 Google customer said they replaced the foundation with a poured concrete one in 2020; it took longer than hoped, but that customer called the job good. A recent Google customer called Bill great to work with and praised his concrete team. A 2025 Google customer said the company stopped all communication after three months of planning an addition and its foundation quote, and that the quote only ever came in pieces. That 2025 customer wrote that they had spent money on site prep before contact ended. Vermont lists its residential contractor registration, 174.0001002, as active, held by Multy Builders.

“Long Trail Electric, Vermont Mechanical Inc., Multy Builders, A. Tedesco Masonry, Richard Bushey Enterprises, White Ridge Construction, Builders Installed Products, A.P. Timberline Construction, Primo Corporation, O’Raine & Sun (painters), Ben Fowler Consulting, Efficiency Vermont, and Green Mountain Power, all worked on the project.”
Bill was great to work with and has an awesome concrete team. Very professional.
It's hard to leave a good review when you try to contact them numerous times, work with various personnel at the company to put a building plan and foundation quote together for an addition worth several hundred thousand dollars, getting the area cleared out and prepped for site work, and the company completely ceases all communication of 3 months of planning. We couldn't even get a whole quote, everything came in pieces and it was like getting teeth pulled. After months of trying to get in contact, we gave up. I'm sure their work is good but there seems to be a lack of interest in getting new work. Unfortunately there are not many other options for builders in the area. Perhaps the last 18 months they have just been too busy for new contracts. Regardless, it was a disappointing experience. We've moved on and changed plans, but it would have been nice to have at least gotten told they weren't interested in our business before we spent money doing site prep and ghosting us. 2 stars given since most of the communication was good at the beginning.
My project was completed by a division of Multy Builders, Solid Concrete and Excavating (SCE), and I am VERY satisfied with the job. Hydrostatic pressure as a result of the heavy, constant rains of the summer of ‘23 (and subsequent high water table) had seriously damaged one of my basement foundation walls. Both horizontal and vertical cracks appeared in my cinder block western wall and the wall bowed inward at least 2” in the center. SCE anchored rebar, installed forms and extensive bracing, and poured a new concrete wall (complete with two buttresses) using the existing wall as the outer form, thereby restoring structural integrity to my foundation. Upstairs, my front door (which had bound shut due to sagging) was finally freed and usable again — SCE had jacked up the front of the house before the pour and built framing on top of the new wall to support the house and return it to its proper position. Along the way, requests I had made were taken into consideration and followed through on with zero complaints. During the work, SCE pivoted to a different job to allow time for my basement floor to dry out enough to continue with the project, at my request. When I asked if 2x4s could be added to the tops of the forms to allow for an extra inch and a half of height on the new wall so it could MORE than cover an open seam in the block wall, again, it was no problem. The SCE team was very responsive to my questions, as well. Additionally, I found the price for the project to be well within the range of what I had expected to pay for such work — on the low end, in fact. THAT was a pleasant surprise! I would hire Solid Concrete and Excavating again, without hesitation, for future projects. - Mike Mayone
During the summer of COVID 2020 they replaced our foundation with a poured concrete one. It took longer than we had hoped but the job was good. I recommend them to everyone that has construction projects, large and small.
Bill and his crew repaired some bad insulation around the foundation of my house. They did a great job! Even tried hard to save my shrubbery ! They were very thorough , very honest and very friendly ! I'd recommend them for all your home improvement needs!!
