It started as a Christmas present. Shawn Cutroni was 19 when he built his mother a backyard pond with borrowed tools; by the company's own telling it leaked and turned green, and it set the course for everything after. He started the business in 2007, and when he deployed to Afghanistan with the 1-182nd Infantry in 2011 his father Tim ran it until he got back. Tim and his mother Janelle are still in it — the company describes itself as 100% family owned and operated. What they do is water: koi ponds, pondless waterfalls, fountainscapes, natural swimming ponds and aeration, plus the steadier half of the business — cleanouts, leak repairs and renovations of ponds somebody else built. POND Trade Magazine described Cutroni in February 2019 as a combat veteran and Master Certified Aquascape Contractor whose company hires veterans, and WCVB put the waterfalls on television that June. The homeowner trail is real but dated. Its Houzz page averages 5.0 across seven reviews, the newest from April 2019, when a homeowner who had inherited a koi pond with the house wrote that the crew cleaned it, repaired a check valve on site and walked her through what might go wrong later. Days earlier another described a spring-neglected pond coming back clear with happy fish. The remaining five, from 2013 to 2015, are landscapers and industry peers rather than customers — real endorsements, but a different kind. Its BBB page carries an A+ with no complaints, though the company isn't accredited there. Two things worth pinning down. The credentials — Master Certified Aquascape Contractor and a 2025 Regional CAC of the Year — come from the company's own materials and its Houzz listing, so confirm them with Aquascape directly if they matter to you. And since the written homeowner accounts stop in 2019, ask for two or three recent local references before signing. For a pond built from scratch or an ailing one rescued anywhere from Worcester out to the Boston suburbs, this is a specialist rather than a general landscaper — and that narrowness is the point.

I bought this house with a Koi pond. Did no know anything about it or how to care for the fish properly. I called them to come out and clean it for me and they not only cleaned it, they answered my questions and provided information for me as far as the future repairs that could come up in the future. The pond was just done again 4/2019 and it looks great. They made an onsite repair to the check valve and the falls are ready to flow.......Very happy with the staff, very friendly, efficient and if you ask a question that they do not know the answer to, they will find the answer and get back to you before they leave. Would definately recommend.
The guys did such a great job! My pond was a mess as the warmer spring days crept up on us. Now my fish are happy, water is clear, and my pond hasn’t looked better. Very professional team, I will definitely recommend these guys!
New England Aquatic Landscaping does beautiful work! Shawn has worked with the best pond and waterfall artists at Aquascape. I would highly recommend this company to create incredible backyard ponds pondless waterfalls, and fountains for all of MA.
As an industry professional, writing reviews for other industry professionals puts my reputation on the line. And in this case, it's a no brainer ! Shawn has trained and built with the best of the best in this industry, and possesses the skills needed to create some beautiful artwork in your backyard, or place of business ! I would not consider any other water feature designer that has not gone through, or does not still grow their abilities with constant continued education in their field. Rest assured that hiring this artist will bring years of enjoyment and relaxation to your daily grind !
Shawn and I just completed a revamp of a pondless waterfall at a public library. Shawn graciously donated his time to improve this public retreat. His great work ethic and artistic eye, along with his passion for the water garden industry make it an easy recommendation for me to make. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Shawn for your waterfeature or hardscape project, in fact, I may just bring him in to help with my next big job.
