New England Blacktop says it has provided asphalt paving in central Connecticut since 1973. On its BBB page, the company says it handles residential driveways as well as parking lots, golf courses and condominium complex driveways, plus catch basin repairs and excavation. A recent customer says the driveway installation went promptly, but a crack developed a few months after completion, and a year of phone calls, texts and emails brought no follow-up. A recent customer says cracks appeared less than 8 months after the driveway was paved, the person at the desk said someone would reach out, and no one did; they are now gathering quotes from other contractors to fix the work. A 2025 customer wrote that they called three times and texted about a drainage problem, and the owner never called back. A 2024 customer thanked Gary and the team for their driveway in Hebron and said the company got the electrical company's okay to dig and dug the apron at the bottom of the driveway right up to the road. That 2024 customer also said the price beat the other quotes they had. A 2021 customer described a job that included repairing an underground drain, expanding the driveway, ramps to a shed and curbing. A 2022 customer said the company installed a binder course and praised the crew's professionalism. A 2023 customer said Gary answered questions throughout the quote process, and a 2025 customer said the company squeezed them in while already busy so they could get into their new home. The company holds 4.3 stars from 22 Google ratings and an A+ grade with the Better Business Bureau. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0556808, as active, held by New England Blacktop Inc.
Initial experience was positive—informative, and prompt through the driveway installation. Unfortunately, their post-job customer service is non-existent. A crack developed in the asphalt just a few months after completion. Over the past year, I have repeatedly reached out via phone calls, text messages, and email to get it addressed, but have received zero follow-up and zero resolution. Great upfront salesmanship, but unfortunately they do not stand behind their work once the job is finished.
Last Summer I had New England Blacktop pave my driveway and over the winter time cracks developed. When I attempted to bring this to the attention of the person working the desk to see what could be done to fix them, she told me someone would reach out to me. I waited a week and I called back concerned because no one had actually contacted me. She was rude on the phone and told me again someone would be contacting me. No one responded to me. Not a phone call or an email and now when I called back I no one picks up the phone. These cracks appeared less than 8 months after they came and did my driveway. Im currently in the process of gathering quotes from other contractors so I can fix New England Blacktops work.
This is for running that stop sign in Glastonbury today. You accelerated so quickly that the truck blew black smoke, I believe you were trying to purposely crash into me. I'd have very little trust in these people after what I experienced.
Gary is wonderful, as is the team. They found a way to squeeze me in when they were already very busy, in order to get me into my new home. When others pushed me off and left me in a pickle, Gary was able to help. I’m so appreciative and would recommend them again and again.
Think twice before hiring New England Blacktop to pave your driveway. If all goes perfectly the first time, you're lucky and you'll be ok. However, if you have a problem at all (big or small) you'll be sadly out of luck. The owner of this company does not return phone calls. The receptionist will take your message and tell you that the owner will call you back. He never does! I called three times regarding my drainage problem and texted also. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me. I am extremely disappointed and feel totally ignored. Customers should be treated better.
