Newton Roofing Residential is a Watertown roofing contractor that says it's woman-owned, led by CEO Toni Bryan, and started small in the Newton area before growing to cover Eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and southern New Hampshire. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and the Better Business Bureau gives it an A+, accredited rating. Sources disagree on how long it's actually been around, though: the company's own materials describe roughly 10 years in business, while its BBB profile lists it operating since 1993 and Angi shows 37 years of experience. Google shows 4.7★ across 24 ratings and Angi shows the same 4.7★ across 141. The written reviews describe coordinated, multi-part jobs: a 2026 review covers replacing a leaky roof along with a ventilation update and a skylight, and a 2025 review describes rebuilding a chimney, reroofing, and installing four skylights — with the chimney work subcontracted to a masonry firm the reviewer called outstanding. In a 2024 review, a customer described the company catching and fixing its own missed item on a gutter-repair contract without being asked. A December 2024 Reddit recommendation in r/Brookline echoes the same pattern: a fast estimate, steady communication, and a clean job site. There's a real pattern worth flagging, though: Angi's own profile notes that a minority of reviews describe slow follow-through on warranty and repair callbacks and cleanup issues, and the company's written record backs that up. A 2021 review described a gutter leak that took months and repeated follow-up to get resolved; a 2019 review described roofing shingles paid for but never delivered after repeated calls; and a 2018 review described a sloppy cleanup that left grit and dust on the house and discolored the siding. All three are several years old and the two most recent reviews are clean, but the pattern is real and worth asking about directly. For a straightforward roof replacement or repair, the record points to a responsive, detail-oriented crew — just confirm cleanup and follow-through expectations in writing before the job starts.
“I've used Newton Roofing Residential before and they came out quickly for an estimate, gave a good price, stayed in communication with me until the day of the job, did quality work and cleaned up nicely.”
These guys did an AMAZING job. Fast turnaround, high quality work, best rates.
Diego was professional and knowledgeable. Great guy!
Would highly recommend Newton Roofing. We needed to replace an aging and leaky roof, including a ventilation update, replacement of an old skylight, and also a rubber roof at the front of the property. We opted to replace the rubber roof first (a smaller job), and found the price to be reasonable and communication with Richard and Diego to be easy and efficient, and the job was completed with no issues or surprises. So, we ultimately went back to Newton for the rest of the roofing, including garage, shed, and skylight. Once again, Richard and Diego were both great to work with. The team came in, worked quickly and efficiently, and left within the day, cleaning thoroughly after they had done. We had an unexpected issue with the skylight, which left us with some interior carpentry work to be done. After a quick chat with Diego and Richard, a plan was put in place for the work to be completed at a time that was convenient for us. Within the week we had a date for a carpenter (Elvis) to come in, who finished the interior work around the skylight, which now looks great. The roof looks fantastic, no leaks to report despite the insane amount of snow we've just had. Would definitely use Richard and team again.
Highly recommend!
This job involved rebuilding the chimney, reroofing, and installing four Velux skylights. Coordinating with Richard and Diego was very easy — they were responsive, clear, and reliable throughout. The chimney work was subcontracted to Maguire Masonry, who did an outstanding job. We were pleased with every step of the process. Strongly recommend Newton Roofing to anyone looking for a high-quality, professional roofing team.
