North American Van Lines holds 4.2 stars from 100 Google ratings. A 2024 customer called the office NAVL-Bozrah and described a five-month relationship, from the initial inspection and quote through packing, loading and the eventual unloading several states later. One customer says many items came up missing, and the insurance they had paid $600 for denied any payout because the movers did not pack each individual box. A customer writes that Matt and his crew did a fine job with the furniture that was transported, though a walnut torso jewelry chest was placed in the bottom of a box on some paper and a few small items were broken. A customer says packing and loading went smoothly, but two-thirds of their belongings arrived, with the rest not due until weeks after the contracted delivery window, and a TV was broken. A customer who moved from Michigan to Connecticut through a white glove service says the drivers were late, would not deliver until paid cash for fees and a tip, and several antiques were broken. A 2025 customer wrote that false information was recorded on the moving documentation forms, claiming the customer had disassembled some of the furniture, and that the North American Van Lines adjuster would not honor the damage claim. A 2025 customer said a Dutch musical longcase clock made around 1740 was damaged because NAVL's Allied Services did not crate it correctly. A 2023 customer said items were left at the original site and they were offered $200 in compensation when going back for them cost $2,500. A 2025 customer said Paul, the salesperson, gave an in-person estimate and the final price came in below the fixed upper-limit estimate. That 2025 customer also said two people showed up on packing day, not enough for the job, and made packing mistakes that damaged a TV and a mirror, and later wrote that a check for the full TV replacement cost arrived quickly. A 2025 customer said the guaranteed estimate was the exact price with no surprise charges, and that Mark Matthews drove from pickup to drop-off. A 2024 customer said everything was packed safely and loaded in about 5 hours, the driver called ahead, unloading took 3 hours, and unpacking turned up no scratches and no breakage.
“We used American Van lines for my family's long distance move and had a really good experence with them.”
“American van lines is good”
“Do NOT go with American Van Lines. They had to sub us out to a bunch of yahoos at the last minute and they damaged almost all of our stuff.”
Many of our items came up missing..(and someone else's item was dropped at our place but I notified the driver before he departed) anyway. I notified the moving company and they referred me to the insurance company , of which I had paid$600 for . The insurance company denied pay out of any kind as the movers did not pack each individual box, of course not, I can pack most of my own items and many were already prepacked in storage..Also. no one bothered to trace my items..If there is a next move I will use PODS.. Soooo.DISAPPOINTED !!!!
4.5 Stars . Some of our belongings were not packed safely, i.e. walnut torso jewelry chest was just placed unceremoniously in the bottom of a box on some paper. It was not broken, but certainly could have been. A few small items were broken, yet they were not of significant value, just little gifts from family. We realize we did not choose to “crate” most of our items because that would have been cost prohibitive, but a special piece like the torso jewelry box should have been handled with more care. Labeling of boxes wasn’t as good as we would have liked. We are not yet finished unpacking. On a positive note, Matt and his crew did a fine job with what furniture was transported. Moving an entire household is very stressful and Matt lightened it up with his sense of humor. Thank you.
Packing of furniture and loading went smoothly. The crew was friendly & efficient. Communication has been good throughout. Delivery wasn’t as smooth. The crew was great but they only had 2/3rds of my belonging. The rest will not be delivered until weeks after my contracted delivery window. Also, the picture shows the destroyed state most of my boxes were delivered in along with a tv that was broke. I have 2 tv’s both were packed with the same material, in the same way by the same people, only 1 is broken so I have to assume it is because of rough handling.
First time I used their service, I chose them. Moved from Oregon to Michigan. Several items were broken and the movers in Michigan were rude. Second time, used a white glove service that hired this company to pack, move and unload from me Michigan to Connecticut. In Michigan, the packers just dumped items in boxes, didn't pack several things. At the end of packing put me on the spot to write a good review stating their pay was contingent points reviews. In Connecticut, drivers were late and wouldn't deliver until I paid cash for their fees and a tip for each driver (had already paid full amount with service). After delivery, several antiques ( each over 150 years old) were broken, some beyond repair. Numerous other items were broken as well. Took photos of the boxes with 'dumped items', all the broken items and spent two weeks calling the service and this company for compensation. The service assisted, in the end it was up to Van Lines and they ignored me. Do not use them, they do jot care about ones belongings.
Driver was professional and courteous. Crew was hard working and fast.
