Northeast Hardscapes and Masonry is a Rehoboth, Massachusetts sole proprietorship run by owner Justin Young, doing patio, retaining wall, fireplace veneer, chimney, and hardscape work since 2015. Its detailed written reviews skew older — from 2018 to 2020, reviewers describe patio installs, a paver driveway, a fireplace veneer with a new hearth, and a retaining wall, consistently praising Justin's communication, workmanship, and fair pricing. The most recent detailed account tells a very different story: a 2024 HomeAdvisor review says a driveway was pitched toward the house causing water problems, that stairs were left out, and that the job sat unfinished after Justin refused to continue. A Better Business Bureau review describes a similar experience — property damage and a refusal to fix it — and BBB's own tracker shows one unanswered complaint, contributing to a B- grade. That said, HomeAdvisor's own overall tally across 99 ratings runs much higher — a 4.9-star average with 94% five-star and only 1% one-star — so on the numbers, the 2024 complaint looks like an outlier rather than the norm, even though it's a serious one worth asking about directly. Given the range between the older praise and the recent complaint, it's worth getting a clear scope of work and grading/drainage plan in writing before a hardscape or masonry project, and asking Justin directly about the 2024 job.
run for your life. This guy is completely unprofessional. He pitched it towards my house and now I have major water problems. He forgot to put stairs in. He refuses to fix anything and told me he is done doing business with me. He left the job completely unfinished. do not hire this company, I don’t know how this guy is still in business
We had a patio installed by Justin and his crew. To begin with Justin's communication with me was superb. He was incredibly responsive. When the project started he and his crew arrived early, worked steady and tirelessly until the patio was completed. We are pleased with the quality of work. Justin and his crew cleaned everything up when they were done. We found Justin dependable and professional. From start to finish it was an absolute pleasure working with Justin.
I can't say enough about Justin and his team. He added on a patio to an existing walkway, installed a firepit, and finished off a retaining wall. Justin is extremely professional, communicated very well throughout the entire project, and his prices are very reasonable. He did an excellent job matching the new paves to the existing pavers, which is not an easy job. I have already received so many compliments on my new patio and several neighbors asking me who did the work. I would highly recommend Northeast Hardscapes and Masonry!
My fiancé and I reached out to Justin for help when our previous arrangement for cutting the excess pavers on our patio fell through. Having seen his company's beautiful hardscape through Everything Mansfield, I knew that Northeast Hardscape & Masonry was capable of this small job, what I didn't expect was the amazing customer service, professionalism, and kindness that we found once we reached out to Justin. He was extremely responsive and sympathetic to our situation, and within a few days he had one of his employees, Mark, out to our house to cut the pavers we needed. In less than an hour, Mark made our backyard project square with clean edges. He also gave us pointers for finishing the job and advise for final touches.
Excellent workmanship and professional. We wanted to have our driveway redone in pavers. Justin showed us many options and ideas. We changed our choice of paver style many times before picking the right style for our house. Justin was very helpful (and patient) in helping us select the right design and combination of pavers. He is a true craftsman! - he custom cut a compass in-lay into the middle of the driveway that we showed him from a catalog picture.
