Northeast Landscape Design is a landscaping business built around stonework. A 2017 customer said Ryan and his crew removed an 80-100' wooden retaining wall and replaced it with stone rocks. That 2017 customer said he also loamed and reseeded the yard, that the job was done in 4 days, and that the cost was reasonable. In a 2017 review, a customer who had not yet moved to Portland said they contracted with Ryan to build stone retaining walls in the garden, and that he sent email updates with pictures as the work progressed. For a second phase of a patio, a wooden trellis and fence, that 2017 customer said Ryan presented drawings and his team completed the work exactly as planned, about $5 under the budget. The same 2017 customer said they later hired Ryan to expand the patio and modify the fence. A 2016 customer said they hired the company to design and construct a water feature with a stream, pond area and waterfall, and that it was completed at the contracted price. A 2016 customer at a lake front property said Ryan put in a watering system and night lighting, and designed and built a stone wall. A 2016 customer said the company installed front granite steps and a walkway. A 2017 customer described a bluestone entry and said Ryan came back to reset a few stones after heavy rains. A 2018 customer said Ryan provided a solution to an erosion problem and worked with the town to get the right permits. On Houzz, the company holds 5.0 stars from 13 ratings.

The best business I've ever met. Very professional, punctual, and honest. Excellent job. Ryan there no words to express my gratitude to you and your workers. Thank you very much
Ryan was a one stop shop and everything was done quickly. He provided the needed solution to an erosion problem, worked with the town to get the right permits and completed his work as promised. Throughout he was professional and worked hard to insure minimal disruption to other areas on my property. I would not hesitate in hiring him again for future work.
We LOVED working with Ryan. Late last fall, we showed him our backyard-- a dysfunctional mess with dead grass, a crazy slope covered with random boulders and potholes, and a stonewall that was simply an obstacle to mow around. With a limited budget and a TON of creativity, Ryan designed an absolutely beautiful, and functional, backyard for us. He seemed to genuinely enjoy finding unique solutions to the issues we viewed as insurmountable (or unaffordable) problems, and we couldn't be happier with the final results. We've even gotten to know our neighbors better, since everyone wants to come over to see our gorgeous patio and stonework! We can't recommend Ryan and Northeast Landscape Design highly enough!
I was so pleased with all the work done by the crew We needed a good design, done with the restrictions of lake front property, and at a reasonable price. He was helpful with his expertise and even came out again as I was having trouble visualizing it.
Ryan is the dream contractor. He is smart and experienced, with a lot of good ideas and experience, but happily willing to collaborate with the owners in refining ideas and materials. For the first phase of our project we had not even moved to Portland yet. We contracted with him to build stone retaining walls in the garden. He communicated with us often by email with questions or simply to update us with pictures of the work as it progressed. We moved in to find the beautiful walls that we had envisioned with him. For the second phase, adding a patio, a wooden trellis and fence, we gave Ryan our budget and our thoughts on materials. He presented us with drawings and suggested affordable options in stone. We came to an agreement and Ryan and his team completed the work exactly as planned, coming in about $5 under the budget. Perfect. I should mention here that having Ryan around is a joy. He's serious about his work, but chatty and funny as well. He and his team always arrived on time and cleaned up in preparation for the next day's work. We were thrilled with how the project turned out but sorry that he was not around daily. Since the original project we've hired Ryan to expand the patio and modify the fence, and our experience was equally satisfying.
