Northern Ridge is a painting company first — exterior work above all, with the carpentry that goes with it: clapboard and trim repaired before the brush ever comes out. Across Angi and HomeAdvisor it sits at 4.8 from 140 ratings, and Porch shows 4.81 from 131. The company runs out of New Hampshire and works south into Massachusetts. BBB lists a Hampton, NH headquarters plus a second location on Haverhill Rd in Amesbury, MA, while BuildZoom and Porch place it at 17 Route 125 in Kingston, NH. It describes itself as a full service painting, carpentry, hardwood flooring and composite decking outfit covering the North Shore and Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts plus southern and seacoast New Hampshire — Porch lists roughly 106 towns. The LLC dates to November 2010, its BBB page is an A+ with accreditation since 2018, and it belongs to the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce. The praise across those platforms keeps landing on the same three things: communication while the job is running, estimates that hold to the quoted number, and crews that clean up at the end of the day. The criticism is much thinner and older, and it clusters just as tightly — surface prep and overspray. Notably, the owner answers those complaints publicly on the directory rather than leaving them to stand alone, and one low review is contested at length. So prep is the thing to pin down before work starts: have the proposal spell out washing, sanding, and who is responsible for paint that lands on windows and screens. Worth knowing too that the posted reviews stop in August 2024, so ask for a few jobs finished this year and go look at one. On licensing, BBB records and BuildZoom both list Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration 168990 for the company, and BuildZoom lists an EPA renovation (lead-safe) license as well. Those are directory records rather than confirmation, so check the registration number yourself with the Office of Consumer Affairs before you sign. The right call for a full exterior repaint with carpentry attached, anywhere in the band of towns from the North Shore up into the seacoast.

Wonderful company to work with extreme professionalism! Kept every appointment showed up when they said they were going to return phone calls promptly. Got the job done on time. I could not have asked for a better experience.

Northern Ridge Painting did a great job on our home this spring (2024). High quality work, very professional, responsive and timely, and the price was reasonable and within the quoted estimate. Highly recommended.

I've hired many painters over the years, and it is not close, Northern Ridge was by an order of magnitude the best. The entire process was easy. From quote, scheduling, prep, painting, inspection, to follow-up, everything was handled professionally. Northern Ridge overcommunicated and was the best home contractor I have worked with. I have to mention how hard the team worked. They showed up early and worked hard until late in the day; the team was incredible. (Exterior Home or Structure Paint or Stain, $9,000)
