Forty-seven five-star ratings, and every written one of them is about a company under a different name. Novo Design & Build LLC's Houzz page averages 5.0 across 47 ratings, but the twelve accounts you can actually read, dated 2019 through January 2023, praise "DFL" or "Designs for Living" and credit Paulo Pereira — the same principal BuildZoom names as Novo's owner. Read that history as the track record of the people, not of the corporate entity. The entity is new. BBB opened its file on 2 April 2026, lists one employee, and declines to rate the business because it has been trading less than six months. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #204600, issued 5 March 2026, which it says it verified active in February 2026, alongside a Rhode Island residential contractor licence #GC-44437 verified active in July 2026. Those are the directories' records rather than a check we ran. What the older reviews describe is a cabinetry and design shop. In a January 2023 review a homeowner wrote that Paulo sat down with her and her interior designers on detail selection for a master bathroom. A December 2022 customer described a mudroom and powder room where a structural bump-out was hidden behind a pantry, said a carpenter came the next day when a drawer went wrong — and noted that a separate builder installed the cabinets. The pattern repeats: a January 2022 kitchen renovation is credited jointly to Designs for Living, Vin Gadoury Construction and Becker Cloutman Home. They have carried whole jobs as well. A July 2020 reviewer described a full bathroom renovation started in November 2019 and built in six weeks, on time and on budget; a November 2019 customer said two bathroom remodels finished early and the crew cleaned up every afternoon. The shop sits at 895 Smithfield Ave in Lincoln, Rhode Island, and its stated service area reaches into a band of Massachusetts towns — Attleboro, Blackstone, Franklin, Medfield, Millis, Norwood, Walpole, Westwood and Newton among them — with Houzz showing projects in Dover and Medfield. Before you sign: ask whether the designers and crew from the Designs for Living years carried over to Novo, establish who installs the cabinetry on your job, and get the Massachusetts registration number in writing so you can check it against the state register yourself.
I am very pleased with DFL cabinetry quality and the design process. Paulo sat down with my interior designers and me and assisted in detail selection and design. Our master bathroom is both beautiful and much more functional now! I will be using them again for a future kitchen renovation!
Working with Brian and the DFL team was an awesome experience! Brian was super patient and he totally got me! The process was so easy and I never felt stressed or rushed to make decisions. DFL was amazing to work with! This was our 2nd time working with them to help update a section of our home; our large mudroom and attached powder room. Our space had some challenging structures that were built into the design in order to 'hide' a wall bump out. That is now hidden behind the large 'pantry' by shelves and drawers. Every piece of the project went well, the design, delivery and installation. When an issue arose during the installation with one of the drawers, DFL had their carpenter come the next day to resolve the issue! Note, we used a separate builder for the installation of the cabinets. I absolutely LOVE my new space. We have had tons of compliments on the design, quality and use of space. The DFL team were an integral part of the successful renovation our three bathrooms. The primary bath posed some design challenges and Paolo was hugely helpful in configuring the best possible solution for us. Add in excellent project management and the expertise of Vin Gadoury Construction and you have a beautiful result! We could not be happier!
