NR Concrete is a Fall River concrete and paver contractor — patios, walkways, stamped work, retaining walls, driveways — listed on BuildZoom as Nr Concrete Co Inc with Nelson B. Rego as owner. The written accounts run from 2017 to 2023 and split hard: BuildZoom averages 3.0 from 14 ratings, Houzz 3.0 from two. Most of the favourable accounts are from 2020. In September 2020, one customer had a patio finished within a few days and called it beautiful; another that month added a patio and a walkway off the driveway and was pleased with how it turned out. In October 2020, a homeowner wrote that Nelson Rego took on a job no other company wanted — a new basement floor plus knee walls to support a stone foundation — and that the only other company willing to do the work quoted $7,000 more. A July 2020 reviewer said he paid only once the job was 100% complete, and would hire again. The complaints are older and they are severe. A July 2017 BuildZoom reviewer says the company took their money for materials and workmanship on a Southeastern Massachusetts job that began in January 2017, and then disappeared. In June 2018, another says he signed a contract that April, paid $14,000, and was left with an unfinished job, a yard in a mess, and calls and texts unanswered. A July 2017 Houzz reviewer reports several large cracks less than three weeks after the pour, with no gravel or compaction sand used underneath. A September 2017 reviewer says the concrete went down directly over grass, leaving boot prints and wheelbarrow marks across the pad. The newest written account, from March 2023, is milder: three projects, concrete not dyed the colour asked for, stair faces not stamped and dyed, cups left in the yard. Two more things to know before you call. BuildZoom flags the company with an ALERT and a score of 0, and a May 2018 reviewer there alleges the profile's positive walkway-and-fire-pit review was posted by the owner under a different name — that same walkway and fire pit are the subject of the April 2018 Houzz review. Reviewers there also allege the business operates under other names, including Eli Rego, Stampcon and E&B Construction. And the Rhode Island residential contractor number shown on that page, #27019, appears twice with different statuses: one entry expired in August 2007, the other inactive and at one point cancelled. If you are weighing them for a patio or a slab, the 2020 accounts are as real as the 2017 and 2018 ones. Ask for the contractor registration that covers the state your house sits in, put the base preparation into the contract in writing — depth, gravel, compaction — and tie payments to completed stages you have looked at rather than to a deposit up front.
