Olde Towne Irrigation is a small Newburyport outfit built around lawn sprinkler systems — designing, installing and servicing them, plus low-voltage landscape lighting, for homes and businesses on the North Shore. The company calls itself family-owned, and its Better Business Bureau page, an A+, lists Joseph Chaisson as the manager and the LLC as formed in 2010. Two customers who have used them for years have written about the work. In a June 2025 review, a homeowner credited Joe and his team with the irrigation plan for a 3-acre lawn and with servicing it every year since, all of it automated. In June 2026, another long-time customer dropped to two stars over what they called a major issue this year, involving an afternoon appointment to open the sprinklers for the summer. A reasonable call for irrigation design or a seasonal opening on the North Shore. Pin down the appointment window in writing, ask who will actually be on site, and get the annual service visit spelled out before the season starts.
“Olde Town Irrigation”
We've been using Olde Towne Irrigation for years. We've always thought they've done a great job with no issues. This year, we did have a major issue, though. We were told they were coming by in the afternoon to open our sprinklers for the summer. We weren't going to be home in the morning, but made ourselves available in the afternoon. We had other contractors in our home at the time for different work. The Olde Towne team came by in the morning and asked the contractors if they could enter the house. The contractor stated they weren't the homeowners. Rather than leave and come back at the agreed-upon time, the Olde Towne team chose to enter our home without permission. I don't know how long they were in our home and they were unsupervised. We called Olde Towne after this incident to discuss. The person we spoke with dismissed our concerns and noted the contractors could've supervised the Olde Towne team. It's not the responsibility of contractors to supervise and homeowners did not give permission to enter the home. The sprinkler work was fine, but I'm disappointed at the unprofessionalism and response.
Joe and his teamat Olde Towne Irrigation have been doing my irrigation for years. From coming up with an incredible irrigation installation plan for our 3 acre lawn, to servicing it every year. They have been awesome to work with. Everything is all automated, and we have an incredible green lawn. Not to mention everyone on his team is super friendly!
