Two Google reviews, a year apart, both from customers who had been with the company for years — that is the whole written history of Olde Towne Irrigation, and it splits cleanly down the middle. The company designs, installs and services residential and commercial lawn sprinkler systems and low-voltage landscape lighting across the North Shore, working out of Newburyport and Gloucester, and describes itself as family-owned. Its Better Business Bureau file lists it as an LLC that started trading in April 2010 with one employee, and names Joseph Chaisson as the manager and customer contact. The good side is specific. In a June 2025 review, a homeowner credited "Joe and his team" with designing an irrigation plan for a three-acre lawn and servicing it every year since, with the whole system automated. A neighbour on a November 2025 Newburyport Nextdoor thread, answering someone asking who installs lawn and garden irrigation, put the company's name forward too. The other side is recent. In June 2026, a customer who opened by saying they had used the company for years with no issues described a major problem this season around a sprinkler opening they had arranged for the afternoon, when they would not be home in the morning. Google's 3.5-star average is simply those two reviews — a 5 and a 2 — averaged. Worth knowing before you call: the BBB page shows an A+ while stating plainly that the business is not BBB accredited, which are two different things. With only two written accounts on file, ask for recent local references and pin down the appointment window in writing when you book.
“Olde Town Irrigation”
We've been using Olde Towne Irrigation for years. We've always thought they've done a great job with no issues. This year, we did have a major issue, though. We were told they were coming by in the afternoon to open our sprinklers for the summer. We weren't going to be home in the morning, but made ourselves available in the afternoon. We had other contractors in our home at the time for different work. The Olde Towne team came by in the morning and asked the contractors if they could enter the house. The contractor stated they weren't the homeowners. Rather than leave and come back at the agreed-upon time, the Olde Towne team chose to enter our home without permission. I don't know how long they were in our home and they were unsupervised. We called Olde Towne after this incident to discuss. The person we spoke with dismissed our concerns and noted the contractors could've supervised the Olde Towne team. It's not the responsibility of contractors to supervise and homeowners did not give permission to enter the home. The sprinkler work was fine, but I'm disappointed at the unprofessionalism and response.
Joe and his teamat Olde Towne Irrigation have been doing my irrigation for years. From coming up with an incredible irrigation installation plan for our 3 acre lawn, to servicing it every year. They have been awesome to work with. Everything is all automated, and we have an incredible green lawn. Not to mention everyone on his team is super friendly!
