A customer who has had their furnace serviced by P. Gagnon & Son since 2017 says they called to book the yearly service and were told "I've been instructed to not provide you service because you haven't ordered oil" — and got the same answer after offering to order oil too. The company sells heating oil and propane, says it has been in business 122 years and advertises 24/7 emergency service. A 2025 customer of two decades wrote that it carries the same name under different ownership. A 2026 customer said a technician came out when part of their heating system stopped working, quickly found the issue and resolved it. A 2026 customer said two technicians unhooked an old stove and connected the new one the same day. A 2026 propane customer of more than 20 years said a new boiler was installed and that Mike helped them choose which boiler to use. In a 2025 review, a customer who came home to an empty oil tank said a technician who was in Wells came after hours, filled the tank and got the furnace going. A 2021 customer said a technician arrived within two hours, traced a boiler problem to a bad ignition cable, replaced it and explained the fix before leaving. A customer whose furnace was installed in 2016 says a needed part turned out to be obsolete because the furnace, sold new, was seven years old, and that calls about it have gone unreturned for over two months. A customer says they were switched from automatic delivery to will-call in the middle of the season without notice. In 2026, a customer of 10 years said they were left to run out of oil over an $18 balance with no notice of a cutoff. A 2026 customer said they called for two weeks requesting an oil delivery that never showed up. A 2025 customer said a technician doing oil furnace maintenance left oil on the work area and door knobs, and billed two hours for a 45-minute visit.
“P. Gagnon & Son, the company that provided the propane and necessary equipment for the training.”

Very disappointed in these guys unfortunately. I've been receiving service for my furnace with them since I bought my house back in 2017. I've purchased oil from them for most of that time but there had been a couple hiccups and I have used another service for fill ups the last year. I called today to schedule a furnace service and was put on hold. Was then told there is no record of past services in the system for my address. Completely false. I read the dates of services from the record their techs have kept over years that is with the furnace (attached as proof). Was then told "I've been instructed to not provide you service because you haven't ordered oil." I said no problem, let's order oil too. Again was told "I've been instructed to not provide service". She was very short. I just need a yearly furnace service and have always trusted this business over the years as my go to for this. Happy to buy oil if that's what's needed and communicated this. What a bummer, apparently when they sold, it really did go down hill as many have said in the area.
I've been a customer of P. Gagnon & Son for 10 years and had a deeply frustrating experience that ultimately cost them my business entirely — for oil, propane, and equipment maintenance. In early June, I called to request a propane fill when my tank was at 32%. I was told, "No, you're fine, you're on auto delivery, we'll get to you when we get to you" — despite my explaining I'd rather pay for the fill now given how variable usage can be. It's a strange thing for a business to turn down paying customers wanting to give them money, but I let it go. The real issue came shortly after, when I reported that a gas line had come loose from the siding and was now running under a platform on my deck — a real safety concern, since it could easily be struck by a snow shovel or other equipment. The representative responded with confusion and hostility, repeatedly asking "what does a deck have to do with a gas line?" and "what do you want me to do about it?" I had to repeat the same explanation three times, met with silence and irritation each time. When it became clear she had no intention of scheduling a repair, I asked to switch companies and have my tank picked up. That was roughly five weeks ago. Since then, I've called weekly asking them to retrieve their tank from my yard — where it now sits, unused and increasingly unsightly — and filed a Better Business Bureau complaint. As of this writing (nearly two months later), the tank is still sitting in my yard, unaddressed. As a result, I moved my propane, oil, and all furnace/water heater maintenance to another provider — over $1,000 in business P. Gagnon & Son lost, seemingly because one representative refused to do her job on two separate occasions. I'd strongly encourage anyone considering this company to think carefully about the customer service they can expect if anything goes wrong.
Switch to me from automatic delivery to will call in the middle of the season and did not notify me I am filing a complaint with the state
We recently needed service on the furnace they installed in 2016. we were told that the part that was needed was obsolete which seemed odd for a furnace that is only 10 years old. turns out they sold us a furnace that while new, was 7 years hold, hence the obsolete part. They found a spare they had on hand and charged over $600.00 for it. Have been trying to get answers for over 2 months about the part and they never return calls.
i have had a service call now for more then 2 months i just don’t understand
