The tell with Perennial Landscape is how long people stay. Reviewer after reviewer counts the relationship in decades — "over 20 years", "15+ years", "the past ten years" — and they are still describing new work at the end of it. Scott Carzo started the company in Winchester in 1995, according to its own history, as a way to make extra money outdoors; it now runs out of 22 Torrice Drive in Woburn and describes itself as being in its third decade of masonry, landscape construction and landscape maintenance. Carzo is still the name customers use. He appears by name in reviews from 2014 through 2025, and one 2025 Google reviewer thanked "Scott, Jon, Andrew and team" by name. The work splits cleanly in two. On the construction side it is stonework: fieldstone and Pennsylvania flat walls, granite steps, bluestone patios, walkways, firepits, outdoor kitchens and landscape lighting, with project galleries in Andover, Lexington and Winchester. On the other side is the ongoing stuff — weekly mowing, spring and fall cleanups, leaf pickup, pruning, seeding, and for several customers, snow plowing. A 2015 reviewer described a retaining wall built "to the highest standard", finished with the crew pressure-washing muddy marks off their driveway; a 2014 customer in Concord credited them with a bluestone patio, two walkways, a driveway, and spotting and repairing a fault in the house's stone foundation. Drainage is where the record is most useful. A November 2025 reviewer rebuilt a back yard and patio specifically to fix drainage and usability, called the finished result great and the hand-built rock wall stunning — but said a couple of fixes were needed once the spring rains returned, including a basement window well packed with heavy rock and sand that didn't drain fast enough and let water in. Perennial came back and remedied it at no charge. That is the single most informative review on file: it names a real weak spot and shows what the company does about one. Two things worth knowing before you call. Most of the Google reviews arrived in a single cluster in early November 2025, which usually means the company asked customers to write them — the accounts themselves vary widely in length and detail, so they read as real, but the timing is a campaign, not a steady trickle. And the service area they publish is inner-Boston and Middlesex county — Winchester, Concord, Lexington, Andover, Woburn, Arlington, Belmont, Reading and neighbours — so confirm they travel to you before planning around them. Best fit: a homeowner who wants stonework and planting designed and built by the same outfit that will then maintain it. Ask specifically about the drainage plan on any regrading or patio job, and get the plant and stone selections in writing.
