An unfinished outdoor fireplace is the most serious complaint about Porterhorn Masonry: in an April 2025 HomeAdvisor review, a customer said the project was still incomplete nine months after it began and that Michael Porter had walked off the job, leaving a mess. The customer also alleged that earlier, when only a concrete pad had been built, he threatened to leave unless payment increased beyond the signed contract. That account concerns the work and the agreement itself, not just a delay. Porterhorn's older customers describe completed patios, steps, stone walls and chimney work. A homeowner writing in March 2021 hired Mike Porter to replace two patios, including a supporting rock wall for the larger one, and praised the finished patios and attention to their appearance. In October 2018, another customer described Michael and his assistant tearing down and rebuilding a chimney in a week, with praise for both the result and communication. An August 2018 customer said the crew added stone veneer to cracked brick walls and bluestone to old walkways. These are accounts of work described years ago. Several 2015 reviews give further examples. A South Yarmouth homeowner described replacing deteriorated entry steps with a two-step brick assembly topped with bluestone, praised the craftsmanship, and said the price was reasonable and the project finished ahead of schedule. Another customer hired Mike and his crew for pool-deck pavers, a fieldstone wall repair and a patio around a firepit, and described reasonable pricing compared with other quotes. A September reviewer praised demolition and rebuilding of a porch landing and steps. Timing drew mixed reactions in those older accounts. A May 2017 customer said the quote arrived within a couple of days and work started on the promised day. A January 2018 reviewer praised the work but said it took three weeks longer than quoted, criticizing short workdays and an incomplete five-day workweek. Angi and HomeAdvisor each list a 4.6-star average from 17 ratings, with 82% five-star, 12% four-star and 6% one-star ratings. The company's directory descriptions advertise brickwork, natural-stone walls and veneers, patios and walkways.
