Preferred Air Systems, Inc. is a heating and cooling company. On its HomeAdvisor and Angi profiles it says it provides heating, cooling and indoor air quality products and HVAC services from Danbury, Connecticut, and that it has served Fairfield, Connecticut and the surrounding counties since 1994. Its own website lists 24/7 emergency service. A 2021 customer said a technician, Barry, repaired a flex vent that had been pulled out and was forcing heat into the garage instead of the family room above. That 2021 customer also said Marie, the service coordinator, found a spot within a few days. A recent customer said everyone at the company was friendly and professional. A 2025 customer who hired the company to install an entire system said another vendor caught an incorrect installation that could have led to a leak from the attic. That 2025 customer said that when the HVAC stopped working in the middle of the summer, they had to beg to get someone out, and the system was not functioning at all after the visit. The same 2025 customer said they were still charged, calls and voicemails went unanswered, and the company threatened collections while the issue was in dispute; they said they ended up paying just to make the company go away. Connecticut lists its D1 heating and cooling licence, HTG.0390594-D1, as active, held by Preferred Air Systems Inc.
I would highly recommend this company! Everyone is super friendly and professional. I like that they are a family owned company who really care about their customers.
I’ve dealt with a lot of home service providers, but this company is hands down the worst experience I’ve had. I hired them to install my entire system. I had an issue with incorrect installation that was thankfully caught by another vendor - it could have led to a leak from my attic. My HVAC stopped working in the middle of the summer. I had to beg and plead to get someone out to look at it. I was even told to "go find another company" at some point in the process. When they finally arrived, their work left my system not functioning at all after they left. They still charged me as if everything were fine. When I tried to resolve the issue, I couldn’t get anyone on the phone — calls go unanswered, voicemails go nowhere, and you’re lucky to get an email weeks later. Their billing practices are misleading at best and borderline deceptive — they demanded payment for defective service, ignored my requests for resolution, and even threatened collections while the issue was still in active dispute. That’s not how an honest or reputable business operates. The lack of professionalism, transparency, and customer care is astounding. If you value high quality work, integrity, communication, or basic accountability, look elsewhere. I ended up paying just to make them go away, but this is absolutely the last time I will ever do business with them — and I’ll make sure others know what to expect before they do. The company also has never apologized. Instead they decided to post a clearly fictitious response to my review. I was never anything but professional and polite to their staff. I have literally never written a Google review before. That is just how bad they were.
Great overall service
I was so happy that the technician, Barry, repaired the flex vent that was pulled out and was forcing heat into the garage instead of the family room up above. Marie, the service coordinator, was so helpful in getting me the help I needed as quickly as she possibly could. It turned out that she found a spot within a few days, which was amazing!! I will definitely recommend them to anyone needing any heating or cooling or vent help.
