Primary Masonry & Construction is a Waltham masonry contractor that Angi lists for masonry, waterproofing, chimney, steps, French drainage, and roofing work. BuildZoom places it at 890 Winter St and describes it as family-run with over a decade of work; Angi identifies it as veteran-owned. The four-review sample is sharply split. In May 2025, a homeowner praised a paver patio, the crew’s communication, and workmanship. But one-star reviews in May 2026 and September 2025 allege poor work, missing permits, an unpaid Massachusetts Small Claims Court judgment, and an unfinished chimney that required another contractor to correct. BuildZoom lists 78 projects and a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license as active as of March 2026, while Angi lists the same license number with a January 2027 expiration. Given the recent complaint and small review base, get a detailed written scope, verify permits and the license directly, and use the contract’s payment and completion terms to protect yourself.
Unprofessional experience, to say the least. Work was done poorly, no permits were pulled, and I had to take him to Massachusetts Small Claims Court. I won a judgment that he still hasn?t paid. Based on my experience, I strongly advise homeowners to avoid this contractor at all cost.
I had a terrible experience with this contractor. He never finished the work I contracted him to do. I paid him to demo an old chimney and rebuild me a new one. I paid top dollar for the job and he left me 2 feet short of a code compliant chimney. I've had to hire a real professional to come finish the job and they looked at Primary's work and found all sorts of issues. He knew he was such a bad contractor that he got another one to submit the permit! Do not use this guy. Take my word.
We recently had a new paver patio installed by Primary Masonry and Construction, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was smooth and stress-free. We worked with Finn, who was incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable. He took the time to answer all of our questions—no matter how big or small—and made sure we felt confident and informed throughout the entire process. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding, and the finished patio looks even better than we imagined. If you're looking for a reliable, professional, and customer-focused company, we highly recommend Primary Masonry and Construction.
Primary masonry and construction got my project done to a high standard. Customer service was also top tier, couldn’t fault them in any way. I would highly recommend .
