Raffaele Construction Corp

Raffaele Construction cuts stone by hand. The Swampscott company says it is a family business founded in 1985 by expert masons on the North Shore, now owner-operated by Gerardo, who inherited it from his father, and that it specializes in old-world hand-cut stone masonry: stone walls, chimneys, walkways, driveways, fireplaces and outdoor kitchens. Massachusetts lists its home improvement contractor registration, number 177419, as active, and the Better Business Bureau gives it an A+ letter grade, though the business is not BBB accredited. Houzz lists it as OSHA certified, which the company also states on its own site. Customers have written little. In November 2025 a Google reviewer called the work meticulous, said it looks amazing, and recommended the company for hardscape work; a September 2025 reviewer said only that the company does good work. On Nextdoor in June 2025, a Salem poster wrote that Raffaele put a new waterline in at a nephew's home and that the company was insured, provided a contract, and agreed every item in advance. One item on the public record is worth raising before you call. In June 2014 the Boston Globe reported that State Police seized records related to Raffaele Construction of Swampscott, along with another company and others, during a raid, attributing that to someone briefed on the investigation. The report names no charge and no outcome, so it is a question to put directly rather than a conclusion to draw. Raffaele is worth a call for stone walls, chimneys, walkways and outdoor fireplaces, where hand-cut work is the whole point. With only two written reviews on file, ask to see finished walls or patios nearby, and get the scope, the stone and the price itemized in the contract — which is what that one Nextdoor account says the company did.
