Réal Hazen Construction's recent jobs run from a kitchen and mudroom renovation to a loft above a garage and a new panelized home. The company says on its website that it has been in business 3 years. A sevendaysvt.com piece says Richard runs the company, which has 16 full-time workers, and a vermontbiz.com item calls it a sister company through which construction for development projects is self-performed. A recent customer said Jonah grasped the vision for their kitchen and mudroom renovation, Scott managed the project, and the carpenters Randy and Larry did the demo and rebuilding. That customer said the job came in under budget, though the pine floor refinishing and the wall and beam painting and staining took longer than planned. A recent customer said the company created a loft for them above their daughter's garage. A recent customer described a major renovation that replaced the center part of a multi-family vacation home, about 30 by 30 feet, from the foundation up and added a second floor. A recent customer hired the company for a deck off the kitchen and then a full kitchen remodel, had Jay and Jason as carpenters, and said both projects came in near the quoted prices. A recent customer said Real Hazen built their new panelized home, with Scott and Bruce responsive to questions throughout. In a 2026 review, a customer said the company rebuilt their deck as a full tear-down, start-from-scratch project and fixed issues left behind by the old deck. In a 2026 review, a customer said Jonah and his team designed and built a new detached garage with a two-bedroom apartment on top. In a 2025 review, a customer said the company elevated a porch and second floor near the lake while they were away for most of the work, keeping in touch with emails, calls and photos. In a 2024 review, a customer said Jonah and Jeremy renovated the interior of their one-story house and came in slightly under budget.

Professional, knowledgeable, organized, skilled, resourceful, careful, prompt, courteous, friendly, hard working - all describe the RHC crew. From the first meeting Jonah grasped the vision we had for our kitchen and mudroom renovation. We were grateful that he called on Cooper from Leland Cabinetry to help with the layout, plans and cabinets (which are exquisite!) Scott managed the project seamlessly from start to finish; coordinating the crew and subs and went above our expectations to keep to the schedule and budget. He communicated with us every step of the way and was onsite at least weekly to check on things and meet with us. Key to the project was the demo and rebuilding work. We couldn't have asked for a better team of carpenters than Randy and Larry. They are extremely hard working and efficient. It was interesting (and sometimes amusing) to watch them discuss the best way to tackle some of the more complicated aspects of the project. There didn't seem to be anything that they couldn't or wouldn't do and the site, inside and out, was cleaned up when they left every day. The pine floor refinishing and wall and beam painting/staining took longer than planned but we knew from the shape they were in that the extra time would be well worth the wait and it was. There were no surprises with RHC with the exception that the job came in under budget! In addition, they are the nicest people to work with. Thanks so much to all!
I’m absolutely thrilled with the beautiful loft Réal Hazen Construction created for me above my daughter’s garage! I found them through a friend’s recommendation, and I’m so glad I did. Jonah and the team brought my vision to life, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. They truly listened to me and understood what I wanted for the space. Communication was excellent throughout the project, so I always knew what to expect. Their craftsmanship is outstanding. Visitors regularly comment on the beautiful finish carpentry and interior details, and I get to enjoy them every day. My loft feels warm, welcoming, and completely my own. It has become my little sanctuary, with my family close by, and I truly love coming home to it. I’m so grateful to everyone on the team for creating a space that brings me so much happiness. I wholeheartedly recommend Réal Hazen Construction and would work with them again in a heartbeat!
Ours was a major renovation to entirely replace the center part of our multi-family vacation home home (about 30’ by 30’) from the foundation up, adding a second floor. Jonah and his team were very professional and flexible each step of the way. All four families appreciated the quality of the workmanship they accomplished in the design and construction of the space. They flexed with the awful winter weather and also allowed our skilled family members to do some portions of the finishing work ourselves to save a bit of money. We are delighted that our decisions, advised by Real Hazen team members, and their workmanship were roundly praised by everyone. The on-site crew was wonderful to work with and they managed the sub schedules effectively. We now have a warm and welcoming large user-friendly open kitchen, dining and sitting area and front porch space that has become a gathering place for many activities. Many thanks to the whole team.
I have used Réal Hazen Construction for two projects. The first was the addition of a deck off of my kitchen, and the second was a full kitchen remodel. In both instances I was beyond happy with the results. The quality of the work was exceptional. I was fortunate to have Jay and Jason as my carpenters. They are thorough, friendly, and top-notch craftsmen. I enjoyed hearing them discuss the best ways to approach the day to day construction with each other. They were detail focused and never took short cuts if there was a better way to do something. The communication was greatly appreciated from the project managers on down and both projects came in near the quoted prices (not an easy task with the ups and downs given the current situation). They were also great about making suggestions about small details that I overlooked that have made a big difference without a hard sell. Jonah was always available to discuss the job if any concerns arose (the few that did were due to supplier issues that were not in his control, but I feel like he kept on top of things). I also appreciated their willingness to work with a designer that they had not worked with before. The subcontractors they use also are very skilled, so rest assured the job will get done right. I couldn't be happier with the results and will continue to use them going forward.
I want to thank Jonah and his team at Real Hazen. On a whim I reached Jonah to see if Real Hazen was available to build our new panelized home. During the whole construction Scott and Bruce were very responsive to my questions and timeline. The quality of their workmanship exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Real Hazen for your next project.
