Roof replacements and repairs are central to Red Dog's Roofing LLC, with customers also describing siding work and repairs to roof decking and rafters. The Fitchburg company says it is family-owned, serves residential and commercial customers, and traces its story back more than 60 years to Norman "Red" Cochran. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. Google reports 4.8 stars from 266 ratings. A recent complaint concerns damage and follow-up. In an April 2026 Google review, a customer says a roof installed in December 2025 looked good and was reasonably priced, but the crew cracked house siding in several places and damaged a security light. The customer says replacement of the light and investigation of the siding were promised at the walkthrough, then repeated calls went unanswered through March 31. Another April reviewer praises timely, responsive service and Tyler's communication before moving forward. Earlier customers give specific accounts of roof work. A November 2025 reviewer describes replacing shingles on a home addition, including stripping the old roof, replacing rotted plywood, laying new underlayment and cleaning the yard, all in about eight hours. Another November reviewer describes slate-roof work completed in a couple of days, with rotted wood replaced and missing pieces patched. In a September 2025 review, a customer describes a replacement roof, new sheathing and ventilation, removal of the exterior portion of a chimney, and repairs to several rafters. They praise Dominic's answers during the estimate process and Yomar's communication during installation. There are also dated complaints about responsibility and completing work. November 2025 Google complaints allege that work was handed to other contractors and management deflected responsibility when problems arose. A November 2023 reviewer praises the work itself but says the company pressed for final payment and was slow to return to complete the job. In January 2026, a Worcester caller complains about poor telephone connections and says the company declined work outside its immediate area after they waited for a proposal; the caller also reports a $500 starting charge. Beyond roofing, an October 2025 customer describes a vinyl siding replacement completed in five days and a sales process without pressure. A July 2025 reviewer describes replacing a failing clay-tile roof with a raised-seam metal roof, followed later by replacement of three storm doors, and praises the care and follow-up on both jobs.
“Representatives from various trades came together for the Community Roofing & Trades Day in Gardner on July 10.”
“Organized in partnership between Fitchburg-based Red Dog’s Roofing and SkillsUSA Massachusetts, the event was designed to inspire students and raise awareness of roofing as a viable, rewarding career.”
I had my roof done in mid December 2025. Everything was fine, reasonable pricing, and went as scheduled. The roof looks great except they cracked the side paneling of my house in multiple areas and destroyed my security light. I was told at the follow-up walk through that they would look into the side paneling and replace the security light. I have called 3 to 4 times within the last 4 months, most recent call was on March 31st and have heard nothing.
Red Dog Roofing was great. They are timely, responsive, accommodating and simply good people to work this. I would recommend asking for Tyler. He had great communication and made sure we felt comfortable with everything before moving forward. 10/10 service.
These people have terrible phone service. Had to call 3 times because the connection was impossible to understand and there was a long delay for voices. I'm in Worcester which is only about 30 minutes away from them. It sounded like I was calling Japan. After waiting hours for a proposal to arrive I got a call from one of the FOUR telephone numbers they have from a man who said they cannot take any more jobs that aren't close to their place. I have a feeling it was because I had asked the receptionist if they offer a discount to seniors with disabilities. They start at $500. which is double that of some other companies. One star for poor communication and lack of professionalism.
Reliable crew and good people.
I have 2 properties that needed a new roof. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful making sure I understood what needed to be done. When they did come to do the work. It was done efficiently and everything was perfect in 2 days. I'm very happy and would recommend them to anyone needing a new roof
