Road One Paving's customers keep telling the same story about speed. One of them, in May 2026, spotted the crew working a driveway in the neighborhood, flagged them down, had a measured quote an hour later and watched the job start that afternoon. The Northwood company has 52 reviews going back to 2021 and a 4.6 average across 61 Google ratings, with eight of those reviews posted in the last six months and none of them negative. What people describe is bread-and-butter asphalt work done with some care: tear-outs and regrades with drainage in mind, culverts redone alongside a private road in September 2025, a very steep driveway re-pitched in August 2025 so it drained to the street, cobblestone aprons and edging. The same names come up again and again — Joe, Uncle Wash, Lorri, Jane. Its BBB page carries an A+ and accreditation, and lists asphalt repairs, sealcoating, milling, excavating and parking-lot work beside residential driveways. The complaints are far fewer, and they cluster away from the finished pavement. A May 2023 customer said the job was rescheduled four times and then cancelled. An April 2025 customer had a section of driveway removed, the old pavement turned out to be six and a half inches thick, and they were billed $4,700 over the estimate for the extra removal — a thickness they say was never raised beforehand. A May 2025 reviewer described equipment stuck on the lawn, trash left behind, and promised cosmetic fixes that never happened. On a 2023 r/newhampshire thread one commenter named the company as who they used and another told the thread to avoid it, saying their driveway was butchered. There is older history that belongs in the picture. A February 2010 Nashua Telegraph article about paving scams named Road One Paving directly: its owner, Joseph Stanley of Northwood, had been sanctioned by the state of Vermont over paving scams — a consumer-fraud judgment from 2008 — and was at that point the subject of at least four complaints filed with New Hampshire's Consumer Protection Bureau. That reporting is more than fifteen years old and every customer account on file here was written in 2021 or later, so it is context rather than a verdict. New Hampshire does not license paving contractors, so there is no state registration to check on this one. For a driveway or a small commercial lot, the recent work speaks well. Pin down two things in writing before the trucks roll: what happens to the price if the old pavement comes up thicker than quoted, and how firm the start date actually is.
“Avoid Road One out of Northwood too. Butchered my driveway.”
“We used Road One...”
“aving complaints) don’t just go into a file with a letter sent any more. They come across my desk,” he said. Cease and desist Before the latest investigation, the Consumer Protection Bureau has had mixed results in dealing with paving company complaints. Take Road One Paving, for example. Joseph Stanley, of 11 Denmark Drive, Northwood, has been sanctioned by the state of Vermont for paving scams, and is the subject of at least four complaints filed with New Hampshire’s Consumer Protection Bureau, all involving paving work. I met Lucky this morning from Road One Paving in our neighborhood as they were in the process of doing a new driveway. I stopped, Lucky introduced himself. I asked how many driveways he could do in one day. Driveways are all about the same here so he stated 3-4 a day. I asked for an estimate. He stated he would be at my place in one hour, and he was. Measuring took place, a quote was given, and I accepted his number. Lucky stated we’ll be back in approx 2-3 hours upon finishing their current job. They were right on time, Luck and his team were very accommodating, and exceptional workers. All members of their team worked together. After completion of my driveway Lucky came to me and asked if I was completely satisfied. And of course my wife and I were very happy. As he checked wit us, all team members were working together clean up the work area and load all machinery. They put away all tools and swept the area where they worked from. A huge Thank you to the entire Road One Paving Organization. I won’t hesitate to use you in the future as well as recommend you to anyone I know needing your services. Thank you! Dan & Donna Toof
