Rob Stubbins Electrical lists Rutland as its service area and says it has provided electrical services to homeowners and small to mid size businesses throughout Central Vermont since 1998. A recent Google customer had two generators replaced with units they supplied, and said poor communication between the propane provider and the electric company made the job cost more than it should have, while the technicians who did the work were very professional. The same customer described a solar system upgrade with new panels and charge controllers in which a number of components failed; the company took responsibility, covered the cost of the repairs, and followed up with calls and testing. A 2023 customer said Lindsey serviced their Generac generator and was polite and friendly. A 2025 Reddit commenter in r/vermont said the company on Route 4 does their generator maintenance. A 2025 customer said Stephen and Collin upgraded their electrical system from 100 to 200 amps, informed them of what they were doing each step of the way, and hardwired their security cameras. A 2025 customer with a big project on a limited budget said the company was patient through a lot of stops and goes, and that Monica got them a quote. A 2025 Reddit commenter in r/vermont said they had two good jobs done by Rob Stubbins Electrical and that the company works in Northern Windsor county. A recent Google reviewer said they came on time. A 2026 customer said the company was called for a microwave tripping a breaker and performed over $1,200 worth of electrical work, including panel modifications and additional circuits, before the appliance was ruled out, then said the microwave likely needed to be replaced anyway. That 2026 customer said their wife handled everything while they were deployed overseas, that kitchen lights stopped working after the first visit and a bathroom GFCI outlet after the second, and that when they questioned the invoice the company admitted some material pricing had been entered incorrectly and said it would issue a revised bill.
“Rob Stubbins electrical on Route 4 does our generator maintenance, and have an extremely affable office administrator who you will talk to when you call.”
“I have had two good jobs done by Rob Stubbins Electrical. They're out toward Rutland but definitely work in Northern Windsor county.”
“Also I'm not in Burlington but Rob Stubbins is a reputable electrician in my area (Rutland), not sure if they might chat.”
Professional, reliable, intelligent, thought things through, came on time. Exactly what we all want from professionals who help us. On the website I see a 'wheelchair' showing disability accessibility as well. How perfect is that?!
Update 6-9-2026 Recently had two generators replaced by two generators that I provided. Traded in two working Kohler generators. Due to what I consider a poor lack of communication between the Propane provider and electric company that job cost me way more than it should have. I am a generator dealer in Connecticut and know what the stuff should cost, I was definitely taking advantage of by both the Propane company (Dead River) and the electric company. Not happy, although I have to say the technicians who did the work did a good job, very professional. I am posting a review today based on a number of experiences I have had with this company. Most recently we underwent a significant solar system upgrade which involved installation of new solar panels and new charge controllers. During the installation, a number of components suffered failures. We are not entirely sure of the reasons for the failures, however it was likely there may have been some level of human error. Concurring with that assumption, the company stepped up to the plate and took responsibility for the job, and covered the cost of the necessary repairs. In addition to that they provided extensive follow-up calls and provided a myriad of different types of testing to ensure the system was operating normally and in a safe condition. I'm not posting a five star review, because some oversights occurred on this job, however the company deserves a good four star review for their level of resolve and concern to make it right for the customer. I would strongly recommend this company to anybody looking to do electrical or solar work.
I would strongly caution anyone considering Rob Stubbins Electrical. The short version: We called them for a microwave tripping a breaker. Instead of properly diagnosing the appliance, they performed over $1,200 worth of electrical work, and then told us the microwave likely needed to be replaced anyway. The bigger issue: I am currently deployed overseas, so my wife had to handle everything on her own. She has no electrical background and relied completely on the expertise of the electrician who came to the house. What should have been straightforward troubleshooting turned into panel modifications and additional circuits BEFORE the appliance itself was properly ruled out. There are standard diagnostic steps that could have been performed first, like measuring the microwave’s amperage draw under load, testing the breaker for nuisance tripping temporarily running the microwave on a known-good circuit to see if the issue followed the appliance After their work, we actually had more electrical problems than before. • After the first visit, our kitchen lights stopped working. • After the second visit, a bathroom GFCI outlet stopped working. These issues did not exist before they worked on the panel. To top it off, when I questioned the invoice, the company admitted that some of the material pricing had been entered incorrectly and said they would be issuing a revised bill.
They did a great job and the price was reasonable.
This company is incredible. Stephen and Collin did an excellent job upgrading our electrical system from 100 to 200 amps. They did a great job of informing us of what they were doing each step of the way. Stephen's acrobatic abilities to get into tough places was impressive. They also did a great job hardwiring our security cameras. Would HIGHLY recommend this company.
