Ron Wilson and Sons Hardwood Floors is a southern New Hampshire hardwood-flooring specialist - sanding, staining, refinishing, stair-tread refinishing, repairs and both site-finished and prefinished installation. Ron Wilson works with his sons and a small crew, and customers name the crew members: a 2024 repeat customer credited Phil and Alex by name. The work itself is what people praise. In April 2024 a homeowner had three rooms of original antique pine refinished and called the results picture-perfect, adding the team was clean, careful and quick and was measured up for more work before it left. Dust control comes up again and again in the older accounts - a September 2010 customer said dust from finishing was minimal to none, a June 2010 customer named the dustless equipment, and a September 2010 customer said the system left only a small amount of dust in the house. Stair and repair work runs alongside the refinishing. A November 2009 customer had roughly 900 square feet of flooring plus two stairways rebuilt across two phases and several return visits, and said the schedule was kept and the price was fair; a September 2009 customer had a living room, dining room and entrance way refinished and sections patched where walls had been removed. A September 2010 customer specifically praised stain matching between a stairway and the adjoining floor. The things to raise before booking are all about what happens before and around the work rather than the finish itself. The most recent account, from December 2025, is a one-star review from someone who says Ron came out to look at the floors, shook hands and promised an estimate in a couple of days, and then never sent it or made contact; a September 2021 one-star customer says he was told a semi-gloss finish was discontinued, later found it was still available, and was left with gaps between the baseboard and the floor. A May 2011 customer said the work was good but crews came and went without telling them when they would return - a complaint the company answered on the page by saying a one-hour daily arrival window had been given. One caution when comparing listings: the 4.9-from-51 figure on Angi and HomeAdvisor is one review set shown on two sites, and Porch's 4.8 from 54 is explicitly 'based on 54 online reviews' - other sites' numbers restated. The Google page, with its own 8 ratings, is the only independent recent picture. This is the right call for a homeowner who wants a floor-only specialist with decades of refinishing behind them. Get the estimate in writing and confirm the exact finish product and sheen before work starts.
Ron showed up one week early to look at my floors. Better than being late, I guess. Seemed like a very pleasant, knowledgeable person. He understood what we needed, shook my hand and said he’d send an estimate in a couple of days. That was about one month ago and he’s never contacted us. If this is the kind of jerk who jokingly claims to be professional, it’s probably best that you avoid him and find a reputable, honest company. UPDATE: After Ron responded we thoroughly checked our email’s In and Spam folders. Nothing at all from Ron. If you send an email with a misspelled address it sometimes bounces back to you so you’d know. Whether it was a typo on your part or something else, too bad it didn’t out.
This was the second time we’ve worked with Ron Wilson Flooring. Phil and Alex were very prompt, professional, meticulous and friendly. The floors look beautiful. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with them in the future.
We just had three rooms with original antique pine flooring refinished by Wilson and Sons and I am so happy with the results. The team was clean, careful, nice to have around, and quick. They were on time and easy to schedule. The results are picture perfect as well. Before they left we had them measure for other jobs. Cannot recommend more highly!
Amazing work and great pricing. The team is very professional. Will recommend to everyone
Hired Ron because it seemed like he had good reviews. I showed him the paperwork from the floors I already had down. He told me the semi gloss finish was discontinued. So I got a different finish. My handyman came and saw the floor and told me that wasn’t true. I made a few phone calls and found out I could have gotten the same semi gloss finish that my other floors have. So now I am very upset that one floor out of four isn’t the same. Not sure why he gave me bad info but I wouldn’t recommend him to anyone. There is also too many gaps between the baseboard and floor.
