Rumford Stone is a Bow, New Hampshire countertop fabricator with a showroom and slab yard on Route 106 in Pembroke. Its BBB file lists the corporation as started in 1995 under owner Vincent Trento, 31 years in business and accredited since 2000, and the company says it has worked with homeowners and kitchen designers for more than 25 years. You go there to pick a slab and have it templated, fabricated and installed: granite, quartz, marble, quartzite, soapstone and porcelain for kitchens, bathrooms, backsplashes and fireplace surrounds. It states coverage from Manchester and Concord down to Nashua and Derry, out to Rochester and into Boston, and its Houzz listing says the workmanship is guaranteed for as long as you own the home. The installation crews draw the strongest praise. A 2025 customer described a template that "fit like a glove" the first time, with installers explaining each step and how to care for the stone; a 2023 reviewer praised the documented process and the clear pre-install requirements about access, pathways and temperature; and a 2025 marble kitchen and island came out "even better than we imagined". Builders and kitchen dealers who use the company repeatedly say the same. Scheduling is the recurring friction. A March 2026 reviewer rated it three stars for exactly that: over a week for a call back, two weeks to a template appointment and two more to installation, plus a surprise that caulking between the vanity and wall counted as a chargeable specialty service. A 2022 customer who ordered through Lowe's had the template date pushed out two months with a demolished kitchen already waiting. A 2026 reviewer whose materials were delayed by supply issues said the company installed as soon as the slab landed. Opinion is not unanimous. In the same 2023 r/newhampshire thread on southern-NH countertop shops, one commenter said plainly "Avoid Rumford in Bow" while another replied that Rumford had recently done a quartz top for them and was really good. New Hampshire does not license countertop or stone contractors, so there is no state registry entry to check here. Before ordering, get the full lead time in writing from deposit to template to install, ask which line items sit outside the quoted price (caulking, sink cutouts, edge upgrades, old-top removal), and confirm whether you are buying direct or through a third-party retailer - the worst account here came through a big-box order.
“Rumford did a quartz top for me recently and was really good. What happened?”
“Ripano in Nashua did a great job for us. Avoid Rumford in Bow.”
Excellent company, products, service and professional in every manner. A few small follow up but worth every cent!
Product quality and Installation were good but scheduling process was difficult and not customer service focused. For example, it took over a week to get a call back, I then had to wait two weeks to get a template appointment, and lastly, had to wait another 2 weeks for installation. Note that I accepted whatever date/time they offered to avoid the process being longer. Also, it was irritating to hear at the time of installation that caulking between the 36 inch vanity and wall was not included in a price and is considered a "specialty service".... Overall, they are a bit difficult to deal with
We are very happy with the product and installation. There was a delay in materials because of supply but they scheduled installation as soon as it arrived ..
Two bathrooms and a kitchen with a large island all completed by Rumstone. Very happy with the installers and the tops
The installation of our new counter top was the easiest installation I’ve ever seen. They measured once and it fit like a glove . The installers were the best they explained what when and how things were being done .They took the time to explained how to care for our top and to call if any problems accrue. Which I don’t think will happen . Thanks to Rumford stone for excellent service.
