A 2023 customer hired the company to move a large piece of furniture that had to be disassembled, transported and reassembled. A 2023 customer wrote that items were delivered to two different locations and the charge was much less than the minimum another mover they called would have charged. A 2020 customer said furniture had to go out a third-floor window and was moved out that way. A 2018 customer said Ron and his workers took care not to scratch an antique Coke machine or the hardwood floors while moving it into their home. A 2026 Google customer, writing about a move a few years earlier, said the mover arrived late, drove his wife back to Newport midway through the move, dropped and dented their washer without saying anything, and did not keep screws and parts together after taking things apart. A 2017 customer said the work was very slow and a few things were left unassembled at the destination. The company's Better Business Bureau grade is F.
Ron Smith and his team were outstanding. I have used them in the past for furniture moves in our house during renovations. When it came time to find a moving company to move us from RI to NC, I knew who to call. Their integrity and professionalism are impressive. Steady and friendly under tight time pressures, they helped us get through a very stressful endeavor on time. Ron and his team are hard workers. They also treat you and your belongings with a high level of care and respect. They strive for zero damage and are highly successful. I highly recommend them for any of your moving needs. Now I wish they were in NC!
Ron was great to work with - got all our stuff from point A to point B without much hassle, and took great care of all our belongings.
I moved with this company a few years ago and still think back on how horrible the experience was. Mover was late because he decided to pick up his wife to help, and then midway through moving he drove her back to Newport and I had to wait an extra 1-2 hours.. They dropped my washer and dented it but said nothing about it. They took stuff apart and didn't keep the screws and parts together so I could never re attach some pieces (had to just throw stuff away because of it).
Hard-working, dedicated
I can’t say enough good things about Ron and his team at Smoove Moving. They are exceptionally professional, and respectful of both the stuff they are moving, and – just as importantly – the residences from which things are being moved out and in. I’ve used a lot of movers in my time, and Ron has the perfect balance of speed and conscientiousness. Too many times, movers are literally running up and downstairs into and out of the truck in order to finish the job as fast as they can, so they can get to another job. Other movers seem to take forever and move at a snail’s pace. Ron and his team are the ideal combination of both. They move earnestly, but not carelessly. They respect what they’re moving and make sure to take extra time where necessary. Ron is a savant when it comes to maximizing space – which we needed to do since there is always more stuff to move than anticipated. He can see a truck and know exactly how much it can fit. If you ask Ron, “is that all gonna fit?“ you’ll end up buying him lunch because of course, it’ll fit. He actually helped me and my wife understand that ours was not a one day move, but rather a two day move, and he wisely suggested that we consider doing our initial move on a Friday – take the weekend too unpack a little bit and prepare the final bits to move – and then wrap it up on Monday. Other movers may have tried to get it all done in the day, but Ron knew that was not the right solution, and we are so happy because of it. If you’re planning a move, it would be wise to call Ron. He doesn’t rush, he does it dawdle, he just gets it done right the first time. Thanks, Ron.
