Eight five-star Google reviews in the last six months, and the same names keep turning up in them: Dave, Christian, Logan, Tony, Sid. South Coast & Associates works out of an office on Slocum Road in Dartmouth and sells both halves of a house project — the drawings and the build. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active in the company's own name. Across 43 Google ratings the average sits at 4.5. A homeowner writing in March 2026 said the firm designed and built his addition in Swansea; another, the same month, had them run a full custom home in southeastern Massachusetts and wrote that it was not the easiest process, but that the house came in close to budget and on the expected timeline, with the project manager stepping in when things drifted. Two companies that worked alongside them — one handling electrical and site development across several residential builds — described the coordination as clear and timely. Codes and town permitting are a recurring thread. In a 2023 review a homeowner credited David and his team with finding routes through the red tape on a stalled project, and a January 2025 client said a building-code mess got explained "smoothly and calmly." A February 2024 WBSM article about a Dartmouth family's stalled multi-generational home quotes company president Dave Silveira on the town's permit delay, which he called the worst case he had seen. In a 2021 review, a customer said the company came back to fix problems on a house it built after the warranty had already run out. The counterweight arrived on a single day in April 2023, when two one-star reviews landed together. One said untrained subcontractors did the work and that the owner did not visit job sites. The other came from a client who terminated the contract, saying the design omitted the ceiling heights they had specified and that the finished house did not match the design they were sold. Both are specific and both are about the work itself. Nothing since has echoed them, but they are the questions to put directly to the company if you are hiring for a whole house rather than a set of plans: who is on site daily, and how design errors and change orders get handled. The older written history sits on Houzz — 5.0 from 7 ratings, most dated December 2016 and January 2017, several of them referring to the firm as South Coast Architecture. Its BBB page is an A+. Houzz also lists a Massachusetts construction supervisor licence, a Rhode Island registration, and building-code, high-wind and structural-steel welding certifications; those are the directory's listings, not something confirmed at a registry. Right call for a design-through-construction project in the New Bedford, Fall River and Dartmouth area. Before signing, get the site-supervision arrangement and the change-order process in writing.
“The contract involved Dave Silveira of South Coast & Associates, Inc. Silveira said that while it's not the first time the company waited beyond the 30 days for a permit to be issued or denied, Byrd's is the worst case he's seen.”
“It’s always a pleasure working with the team at South Coast & Associates. We’ve partnered on several projects, and they consistently deliver high-quality, well-coordinated construction with great attention to detail.”
We had a great experience working with South Coast & Associates, Inc. on our custom home build in southeastern Massachusetts. Was it the easiest process... no, but building a house is not easy. Is it an amazing house... yes!!! SC&A was an excellent, professional, and great team of people to work with. Our home was built close to budget and within the expected timeline. As with any major construction project, there were moments when things didn’t go exactly as planned. Tony, our project manager, was quick to step in, coordinate with contractors, and make sure everything came together the way we envisioned. Our project coordinator, Sid, kept track of the hundreds of selections we had to make along the way. He continually kept us on track so our selections did not hold up the build. Berenice was excellent with keeping track of payments, costs, and billing. The entire SC&A team was very good at finding well-priced contractors without sacrificing quality. SC&A were knowledgeable about newer building materials and offered helpful suggestions for upgrades that would improve insulation and overall efficiency in our home. At the same time, they were always willing to listen when we had specific products or ideas we wanted to incorporate. Whenever challenges came up, SC&A took the time to listen to our concerns and offered constructive solutions that helped us move forward with confidence. Overall, we appreciated their responsiveness, expertise, and commitment to helping us create the home we wanted.
