Two reviews. That is the whole public history on SP General Construction, and both are five stars — which tells a homeowner much less than they need before handing over a driveway or a retaining wall. The company works out of Lowell and is run by Pedro Da Silva, who Thumbtack has background-checked, with three employees behind him. Its own service list leans hard toward the outdoor, hard-surface end of the trade: masonry, brick and stone repair, concrete repairs, paved walkways, driveways, patios and stairs, alongside lawn mowing and landscape design. Fifty-six projects are posted on the same page, a good deal more work than two ratings would suggest. Both of those ratings date to 2023, on a single platform, with nothing newer. A five-star average built on two customers three years ago is a starting point, not a track record — and every one of the reviews on file is short enough or old enough that it cannot tell you what the crew is like today. One thing to settle on the first call: the same page carries two different histories, an overview field claiming sixteen years in business against the company's own text saying over seven. Ask which is right. Then ask for recent local references — Lowell-area masonry or paving from the past year, with addresses worth driving past — because that is the part no page currently answers. Worth a quote if you want stonework, pavers or concrete from a small owner-run outfit and you are willing to do the reference-checking yourself. Confirm any registration or insurance directly with the company and the state before work starts.
