A no-power call on a Saturday, a new service passed by the city inspector by Tuesday: that is the job a November 2011 HomeAdvisor reviewer described from Stephen Greany, a Monson electrician. The customer heard back on Sunday, got a Monday-morning appointment he kept on time, and received an estimate they called very reasonable, sent to their email and the insurance company. He cleaned up after himself, called the city inspector, explained the steps to restore power, and pointed out unsafe conditions he found along with recommendations for correcting them. His Massachusetts electrician licence, #22590-EL-A, is active, with Stephen M Greany as the holder of record. On HomeAdvisor he describes his work as all aspects of electrical contracting. His written reviews date from 2011 to 2019: 5.0 stars from 6 ratings on HomeAdvisor and 5 stars from 1 rating on Google. In a May 2013 HomeAdvisor review, a customer said Steven called back within hours and was at the house the next day. A November 2011 reviewer who called him about downed power lines wrote that he said nothing at the house was theirs to fix, then trimmed the logs that brought the line down free of charge. The one Google review, from May 2019, called him very professional, intelligent and polite.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Stephen Greany Electrician. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.
Estimated range
$530 – $1,100
Typical electrical project around $820

Steven called me back within hours of my call, and was at my house the next day. He was efficient and professional. <br />
I contacted Mr. Greaney on Saturday and was pleased to hear back from him on Sunday, making an appointment for Monday morning which he kept on time. He was professional, friendly and a great communicator throughout the process. He looked at the work needed, explained it to me, then worked out a very reasonable estimate on his tablet computer and per my request forwarded it to my email and the insurance company. He started work right away, stating he had other work scheduled but my no power situation was a priority. He worked efficiently and neatly, calling in his very pleasant helper at one point, cleaning up after himself and keeping me informed throughout. He finished up Tuesday morning, and called the city inspector and carefully explained the process to restore power before he left. He also explained some unsafe conditions he found and made recommendations for correcting them. The inspector passed the new service with no problem. This was a terrific contractor experience, I especially appreciated the quality of his work and his explaining things in a way that was neither dumbed down nor overly technical. I highly recommend this electrician.
Came to the house to fix down power lines. He said there was nothing at the house I was responsible for fixing. It was up to the electrical company. Then he trimmed the logs that brought down the line free of charge. Nice guy.
