Stokes Woodworking, based in Hudson, MA, says it designs and builds functional cabinets and millwork for the home. In a 2023 review, a customer described reaching out to Al Stokes after hearing about Stokes Woodworking from a friend. That reviewer wrote that Al refused a printout of the model and measurements, that the cabinet was made for the wrong appliance by changing a "D" to a "C", and that the measurements were incorrect. The cabinet was then revised and fixed, which took a long time, and the reviewer wrote that the appliance sat visibly crooked when installed. The same 2023 reviewer wrote that once about two-thirds of the discussed job was finished, full payment was requested and paid, and that the rest of the job was left unfinished for two years.

Can I not give any star to the rating of Al Stokes's service?! If there is a way not to give even one star, I would! We heard from a friend who used Stokes Woodworking when we purchased our house, and reached out to Al Stokes for his service. He and his team didn't listen to our needs (Al refused a printout of the model and measurements saying it would get lost in his truck and to give the model number to his shop over the phone, which we did, then they made the cabinet for the wrong appliance by changing a "D" to a "C") and got the measurements incorrect. They first tried to get us to return our appliance and order the one they made the cabinet for, after we refused they had to revise and fix the cabinet which took a long time. The modifications made without taking the cabinet back to their shop led to the appliance sitting visibly crooked when installed. However, this is not the worst. Once they finished about two-thirds of the discussed job, they requested a full payment for their service. Although we didn't like this request, we still paid him the full amount. After that, Al Stokes and his team stopped coming to our house to finish the rest of the job. Despite occasional barely productive visits spurred by an excessive number of phone calls to his shop, the rest of the job was left unfinished for Two Years! After TWO YEARS, Al Stokes and his team still hadn't finished the job. Each time we contacted him, the response we got was "I will come by later this week" or "I will come by early next week". The whole experience is VERY FRUSTRATING to any reasonable person! Indeed, a person who knowing how to bake doesn't mean they can run a bakery. It is upsetting to work with Al Stokes who doesn't demonstrate an effective business management plan or procedures.
