Strogen's Service Experts is a Somersworth, NH heating and cooling contractor with an unusually deep public review record — 686 reviews on Google since 2021, averaging 4.7 stars, with 52 more added in just the last six months. The bulk of that record describes routine furnace, AC, mini-split, and oil-burner service calls handled by a roster of named technicians customers ask for by name — Chris Gale, Brittany/Brittney, Henry Jeffries, Kyle, Ted, and others come up again and again, praised for explaining the work in plain terms, showing up when promised, and troubleshooting patiently. One reviewer's dog reportedly loves a particular technician; another describes four years of membership visits that keep getting better. Reviewers also credit the company for same-day emergency response — one describes a technician arriving within about an hour when the air conditioning quit on a hot day — and for water heater installs and repairs alongside its core heating and cooling work. Set against that volume, a real minority pattern of complaints shows up too, and two of the most pointed are recent. An August 2026 review says the company "isn't the same" since it changed its name, describing a $199 charge for a visit where the reviewer says the technician didn't complete the work. Another review from the same week describes an HVAC maintenance appointment, booked months in advance, that was cancelled for "over scheduling" with instructions to call back the following year. Older reviews describe similar accountability gaps: one from January 2023 says the company wouldn't return to fix a leaking oil line it had installed, telling the customer to call the oil delivery company instead; another from December 2021 says the company booked an appointment for duct work, then told the customer on arrival that it doesn't do duct work at all. A 2025 review separately describes a booked appointment for a Maine address that was cancelled the day of, with the reviewer noting the company still listed Maine as serviceable online afterward. One fact worth knowing plainly: the company's New Hampshire HVAC business license, checked directly against the state registry, currently shows as expired. Taken together, this is a large, well-established company where the great majority of recent, specific reviews describe attentive, knowledgeable technicians and responsive service — but a real thread of scheduling reliability and accountability complaints runs through the record across several years, sharpened by a couple of recent reviews describing a decline since a rebrand. Worth confirming current licensing status directly and getting firm scheduling commitments in writing, especially for appointments booked well in advance.
“Anyone hear anything good or bad yet about the new one in Barrington? I had a good experience with Strogen's Service Experts from Rochester when my furnace needed a new ignitor in February last year.”
I used to call Strogen’s every time I have an issue with the heat system without thinking of anybody else but since they change their name they’re not the same anymore. They charged me $199 for the technician who didn’t do anything he came in very late to say that he can’t work on my boiler and I have to schedule another appointment since he has another customer waiting for him. I contacted customer service they say they will look into it. It’s been 2 months nobody gets back to me.
Technician was on time and very courteous and knowledgeable.
Excellent service. Much appreciated.
The company has gone seriously downhill over the last few years. In 2025, I made an appointment for basic HVAC maintenance several months in advance of the appointment, only to have the appointment cancelled due to "over scheduling." I was told to call back in 2026 to reschedule. I called back in January and was told they weren't scheduling yet. In April 2026 I managed to schedule an appointment for August 2026, again for basic HVAC maintenance. This appointment was confirmed by text. Less than 24 hours before the appointment, I received a call telling me that my appointment was cancelled, again due to "over scheduling," and that I would have to reschedule. I told the company that they had done this to me last year, as well, and that it was unacceptable. I didn't receive an apology. The caller sounded bored and annoyed. When I told the caller that I wanted someone at my home to provide maintenance, as had been scheduled months in advance, I was told, "Well, that's not happening. You're not getting anyone." Once again, no apology. At that point, I told the caller I was done with the company and not to call me again. It's a shame what's happened to this company. I had been a loyal customer ever since purchasing my home in 2018, but this is an outrageous way to treat customers.
Brittney Britland came out to service our hot water heater…. She was amazing… very sweet, professional, knowledgeable, and experienced… excellent in explaining everything we needed to know about the unit! Thank you Brittney! 😊
