Four hundred and forty-eight permitted projects, roughly 109 of them in the last three years — that is the shape of Suburban Electric. This is not a two-truck shop. The Stoughton company says it has been in electrical contracting since 1958, its BBB page lists 70 employees and Richard M. Piazza as president, and the Massachusetts electrician licence tied to the business is active, with Piazza as the registry's holder of record. The work runs from a homeowner's panel swap to fire-alarm and life-safety systems in buildings with hundreds of units. Its own site advertises residential, commercial and industrial work, low voltage, and 24-hour emergency service around Boston; on Procore it lists healthcare, industrial, infrastructure and institutional projects alongside residential. What customers write about, though, is small and specific. A reviewer in July 2026 described Dave replacing an electrical panel, showing up when he said he would, coming back the next day to add safety features and explaining what to do if a breaker trips. Another, in August 2026, said this was their third call for three different problems and that the crew tried to troubleshoot over the phone each time before sending anyone out. A 2025 reviewer credited Richard, Josh and the crew with an expedited meter-box replacement; a property manager writing in 2024 said they had moved a 261-unit property's fire and life-safety monitoring and inspections over to them. The same handful of names — Rich, Josh, Dave, Mike — keeps coming back, which is usually what a stable crew looks like from the outside. Two things to weigh. The written reviews are uniformly five stars, but the Google average is 4.3 across 34 ratings, so some people who rated them did not rate them at the top. And BuildZoom's licence records list an older Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration for the company as cancelled, along with a couple of other lapsed numbers, next to the electrician licence it verified as active in November 2025 — worth asking about if your job is a renovation rather than straight electrical work. If you need a panel or service upgrade, an EV circuit, or fire-alarm and low-voltage work — especially on a building rather than a bungalow — this is a well-established outfit with a long permit trail behind it. Ask which licence covers your specific scope, and get the estimate in writing before the crew rolls.

I have no words to describe how awesome these guys are. Rich, Josh and the whole crew is so knowledgeable, nice and professional. This is the third time I called them, all for different issues. Every single time they tried to troubleshoot over the phone first. They really try to understand your problem before they send someone out. In these times where we're surrounded by greedy businesses trying to just make money out of us, these people from Suburban Electric really want to just sincerely help. They are very efficient and try to send someone very quick, they charge very reasonable or sometimes not even a dime even if they spent their precious time to educate you about your situation or advised you to seek alternate help, unlike others who try to rip you off in the name of "diagnosing" a problem. I have so much respect for them and will definitely seek help in future if needed.
Dave from Suburban Electric did an excellent job replacing our electrical panel. He was incredibly knowledgeable, efficient, and consistently professional throughout the entire project. Communication is often the hardest part when hiring someone to work on your home, but Dave stood out — he responded promptly to every question and arrived exactly when he said he would. He even returned the next day to finish installing a few additional safety features and took the time to clearly explain what to do if any fuses ever trip. On top of the panel work, they installed a new hall light and removed an old cord that had been trailing across our room for nearly 30 years. He brought the inspector in, and his workmanship passed- no surprise there. I truly appreciate Dave’s expertise, workmanship, and reliability. We feel safer and more confident in our home thanks to his outstanding work. Highly recommend him and Suburban Electric.
