Six rooms, every wall and ceiling, repainted in three days — that is the job a July 2026 customer described, and they added that SYM came in at the best price of the quotes they got. The company works out of 2 Summer Street in Medford, and its own site says it has been painting in Massachusetts since 2012. The name customers keep using is Selbin, the owner who paints alongside the crew; eighteen of the thirty-one reviews mention him. Price is the other thing people bring up: nine of those reviews call it fair, reasonable or affordable. Quoting moves quickly too — a September 2025 homeowner emailed, got a fast reply and had the job scoped within two days, and a December 2024 customer who reached out through Thumbtack had a quote back the same day. Preparation is where the detail lives. A November 2024 reviewer who works in the trades wrote that he hired them for his own home after seeing the quality of their prep. A January 2025 customer having two bedrooms and a bathroom painted singled out the moving and covering of belongings and the cleanup afterwards. A December 2024 project ran through the kitchen, doors, trims, hallways, two bedrooms, closets and the top floor with crack repair in the preparation; an April 2025 customer had serious wall and crack repairs done in an old stairwell; and a February 2026 seller whose house was in rough shape had most of the interior painted and spots plastered before listing. Three customers, writing in September 2024, February 2026 and June 2026, reached for the same word: perfectionists. The work is not only interior. A September 2024 customer had full exterior siding and trim painted, and the company's site adds wallpaper removal and wall smoothing, stucco and power washing, while its Thumbtack profile lists popcorn texture removal. Reviews from 2024 place jobs in Boston, Wellesley and Saugus as well as closer to home. Two things to sort out on the call. The years in business do not agree: the site says 12 years, dating the company to 2012, while the Thumbtack profile says 14. And the calendar is real — an April 2025 customer wrote about being squeezed into a busy schedule last minute — so ask for a start date, not just a price. For a multi-room interior repaint where the patching and covering matter as much as the paint, this is a straightforward call. Get the written estimate (a July 2024 customer described theirs as clear and detailed), confirm how many days the crew will be in the house, and settle who moves the furniture.
From the first call to the finish of the job, Selbin and his crew were incredible to work with. Super communicative, honest, and incredibly fair pricing. They were punctual and worked quickly without compromising quality work. 10/10 will be recommending SYM to anyone looking for excellent work!
Honestly, I can't remember the last time a contractor showed up on time, did a phenomenal job, and finished on schedule. I needed all walls and ceilings in 6 rooms repainted, and they knocked it out in just 3 days—the results are fantastic. SYM also offered the best price out of the three quotes I received. Highly recommend
Selbin and his team did an absolutely fantastic job! From start to finish, they were punctual, professional, and incredibly kind. Their attention to detail is amazing—they are true perfectionists who make sure everything looks flawless. Not only is their paintwork beautiful, but they also kept everything so nice, clean, and organized items back to where it was. It was a pleasure having them here, and I will definitely be recommending them to anyone looking for top-notch painters. Thank you, Selbin!
