Tavares and Sons Electric is an electrical business based in North Attleborough, MA. Its self-written HomeAdvisor profile says it has over 25 years of experience providing electrical services to residential and commercial properties around the North Attleborough area. In a 2019 HomeAdvisor review, knob and tube circuits needed to come out so the attic and crawl spaces could be insulated in a very old house with horsehair plaster walls; the reviewer wrote that Steve walked them through the whole process and kept the resulting damage to a minimum. In a 2018 review, Steve and his son hung a chandelier in a room without overhead lighting, adding the electrical despite a-typical beams in the ceiling, and Steve kept the price at what he quoted. A different 2018 review says they troubleshot and fixed a few outlets and a doorbell that had not worked for some time, put in a dimmer and fixed another switch, all in less than 2 hours. In a 2018 review of an electrician-for-the-day deal priced at $599, Steve and his son took down 15 light fixtures and replaced them with 8 interior and 7 outdoor fixtures in 2 hours; that reviewer called the work adequate but said 600 dollars for 4 hours of work seemed a bit high. A 2017 review said they stayed in contact when unexpected rain backed up the schedule, and that he came in with the best price for the upgrade and stuck to it. In a 2020 HomeAdvisor review, the reviewer wrote that Mr Tavares took the money, never did the work and was not replying to a refund request. A separate 2020 review said Steve got paid months earlier but the permit was still not approved. A 2019 review said most of the LED cans installed on the first floor kept sliding down, that gaping holes were left in the wall after a sconce swap with no response to the promised return, and that the owner's son was marking up the walls. Another 2019 review said a quote of 10,000 to rewire the house came to over 13K by the end. In a 2018 review, the reviewer said it took months of messages to get a call back, the scheduled date was canceled, and after more than a year they were out $225.
Mr Tavares took my money and never did the work. Now he says he's lost the paperwork and isn't replying to my request for a refund. Avoid this company at all costs!
Still waiting for the permit to be approved, for the job to be inspected. So says Steve. Hire him at your own risk. This guy is the run around champion! He got paid months ago, but the permit is still not approved he says,
Yes!!! We loved the work done by Tavares Electric! Steve was very professional, provided a clear estimate and understanding of the work involved. Our house is old and had a few extra works than the original estimates but it was very reasonable. He also provided a few perks of discounts and free installations. Another professional who visited our house commended the work done by Steve. Our family and friends love the new look of our house. I would highly recommend Steve. Thank you Tavares Electric!
quickly and perfectly. Steve explained options and benefits, let us choose what we needed and then quickly got the job done. Any future electrical work we need - we are calling Steve.
It went very well. We needed knob and tube circuits removed so that we could get the attic and crawl spaces insulated properly. Steve was honest with me from the start and walked my wife and I through the whole process and at every step of the way. We have horsehair plaster walls in a very old house. Steve kept the resulting damage to a minimum as plaster is hard to work around.
