Tetlow Homes builds new houses and takes on large renovations. Its website lists new custom homes, accessory dwelling units and knockdowns and rebuilds, and names Montville, Ledyard and Stonington as its service area. A 2026 customer said Tetlow Homes did a major renovation that added an addition, a garage and a screened porch and remodeled the first floor, with a new kitchen, walls removed and a steel beam installed. That 2026 customer said Dave Tetlow stood by his original quote and did not "nickel and dime" minor modifications as the project progressed, and that he promptly called back whenever they had a question. A 2026 reviewer wrote that the company built their house from the ground up, and that Dave had suggestions the reviewer had not considered. A 2025 customer said the company had earlier done an addition for them, which made them want to hire it to build their new home, and said the home was completed on time.
Tetlow Homes did a major renovation on our home that included adding an addition, garage, screened porch, and a complete remodel of the first floor, (new kitchen, removing walls, installation of a steel beam, etc.). I have to say it was a pleasure to work with Dave Tetlow on our project. Dave is an honest, caring, general contractor who truly wants to make his customers happy. He always promptly called us back whenever we had a question or when an issue arose. We had a vision in our minds of what we wanted, and Dave worked hard to make our vision become reality, even when he originally had a different understanding of what we were looking for. He was extremely flexible as the project evolved. Dave stood by his original quote. While we did make some significant modifications that required mutually agreed additional costs, he did not ‘nickel and dime’ minor modifications as the project progressed. It was refreshing to work with someone who had integrity and truly wanted to do right by us. Dave had told us he would change our perception of what working with a general contractor could be like. We can honestly say he did that. If you are looking for a contractor that will do what he says he will do, for the price he quotes you, you will not be disappointed with Tetlow Homes.
They built my house from the ground up and I could not have been more pleased. Solid construction doesn't come close to how well this place is built. When I first started talking to Dave about what I wanted in my new place (I was moving from Silicon Valley back to CT), he had suggestions I hadn't even considered, and the people he works with are craftspeople of the highest order. If I had to do it all over again, I'd use this company in a heartbeat.
Highly recommend Tetlow Builders. David was a perfect partner in building our new home. Communication was key. Tetlow builders previously did an addition for us that made us want to hire them to build our new home as well. Love our home, completed on time, and living our dream thanks to David and his team.
