Nutmeg Building & Remodeling LLC is a remodeling company whose owner is Denise Nott. On its website, the company says it specializes in remodeling, additions, whole house renovations and alterations to accommodate aging in place. Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0621850, is active on the state registry, and so is its Rhode Island registration, GC-35530, both with Nutmeg Building & Remodeling LLC as the holder of record. A 2025 customer said Denise Nott and her team remodeled a bathroom that had come with a 1991 pink-tiled garden tub and a smaller-than-a-phone-booth shower, and that the bathroom now has radiant heat floors. That 2025 customer said the work was done on time, even with their changes, and under budget. A 2025 customer said a tree from the vacant lot next door came down on their parents' home and ripped electrical and communications cables, clapboards and sections of the eave; Denise was out the morning their dad called and got carpenters and electricians lined up very quickly. A 2023 customer said that over 7 years the company remodeled their kitchen, both bathrooms and family room, demolished an old shed, replaced the front door and installed their siding and windows. That 2023 customer wrote that Denise is not always the lowest quote, and that she was quick to respond and resolve the issue the couple of times they were not pleased with something. A 2023 customer who had just completed an 8 month home addition and complete interior renovation said they made numerous changes to the project without it being an issue and that the costs were clear and upfront. A 2022 customer said Denise Nott responded with a prompt appointment and an estimate that was very fair. A 2024 customer said the company remodeled their first home in April 2015 and that a newly remodeled basement room flooded in September 2015; they came with a wet vac, and when the customer asked who was responsible, they told the customer they were. That 2024 customer also said they were given only one choice of flooring. A local paper, norwichbulletin.com, has reported that Denise Nott was named remodeler of the year by the Builders Association of Eastern Connecticut.
“Denise Nott, of Ledyard, owner of Nutmeg Building & Remodeling, has been named remodeler of the year by the Builders Association of Eastern Connecticut for the third straight year.”
I walked into my bathroom this morning - radiant heat floors warming my cold toes - and thought, “Wow, this is my happy place.” Then I walked over to my closet, picked out clothes that I could see matched, sat on my built in bench and thought, “No, THIS is my happy place!” Good news is that I was right both times. We bought our house 10 years ago, complete with its 1991 pink-tiled garden tub, step-in wire shelf closet, smaller-than-a-phone-booth shower and air of desperate sadness. But there were other projects to do, so our bathroom waited…until now. This remodel has changed my life, and it’s Denise Nott and her team at Nutmeg that made it all happen. They were professional, innovative, done on time (even with my changes), under budget and wonderful human beings throughout the process to work with. I can’t tell you how much differently my day starts and ends. My life is simplified. It feels good. Thanks, Denise, Kevin and Nelson and the crew. You’re amazing! I’d give you 10 stars if I could!
My parents, who are in there 80's, had a tree from the vacant lot next door come down that ripped electrical and communications cables, clapboards and sections of the eave at the highest peak of their home, right off the end of their house. Denise was out the morning my dad called. Denise was able to get carpenters and electricians lined up very quickly. She and was knowledgeable, kind, responsive, and such a huge help. The crews that came out to do the work were skilled, efficient and reliable. So grateful she was able to get them up and running so fast.
I should have taken care of this in 2015, when they “remodeled” my first home. I didn’t even pick them, they were in with the awful realtor who tried to make me bid an extra $2000 for this house. They did the work in April 2015 and in September 2015 while my daughter was in labor, her newly”remodeled “ room in the basement flooded. They came with a wet vac. When I asked them who is responsible, they told me I was. There’s not enough room to say anymore, but the lawyer I spoke a couple of years ago wanted to take the case so badly, but unfortunately statute of limitations had just passed. I’m glad a lot of people are opening their eyes and looking for others. I just wish I knew more. I can only blame me. Oh and they only gave me a choice of flooring, every time I walk in the kitchen it reminds me of a muddy cow farm pressed down tightly.
Over the last 7 years, Nutmeg Building and Remodeling has remodeled our kitchen, both bathrooms & our family room. They have demolished an old shed, replaced the front door, installed our siding and installed our windows. We have always gotten numerous quotes and Denise is not always the lowest, but we keep going back to her because she is honest, fairly priced and does quality work. We have had a couple instances where we were not pleased with something and Denise was quick to respond and resolve the issue. This is not uncommon in construction jobs and you really want someone who is easy to talk to and responsive and that is Denise. We will continue to use Nutmeg Building and Remodeling and refer them whenever we are given the opportunity.
Nutmeg is the best!! I just completed an 8 month home addition and complete interior renovation and I’m so happy I chose Denise and her team. As I had never done anything like this, I was very nervous going into it. Denise spent loads of time with me going over ever last detail. I made numerous changes to the project and it was never an issue. The costs were always very clear and upfront. All her guys were amazing, very professional, polite, and the quality of their work was the best. I’m a very detail person and every last detail was taken care of. I highly recommend Denise and her team if you’re looking for quality work, people who are responsive to your needs and easy to work with. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!
